English-only ballot question killed in committee
DENVER - A House committee bid hasta la vista to a proposed English-only referendum Tuesday, saying it went too far in trying to address the state's illegal immigration problem.
The proposed ballot question not only called for banning the state from printing or distributing anything in a language other than English, but also would have barred libraries from purchasing anything written in another language and prohibited schools from requiring students to take foreign language classes.

They just put things in bills that hardly anyone would agree with, so they can kill the part that mostly everyone agrees with. Why don't they write a bill adressing only one issue at a time. Oh, right, I forgot---they're politicians who want to look like they're doing something to earn their pay.

These bills should be strong enough to stand along, that makes me soooo mad! That is like Senator Kennedy holding up a bill for 2 yrs now that would make a national data base for sex offenders so the police could keep up with sex offenders when they cross state lines. the good Senator wanted to attach a hate crimes bill to it, finally Bill O'reilly started a campaign every night on his program he would tell the people that Senator, Kennedy was still holding up the bill to protect our kids, and was asking for people from all over to email and call Ted Kennedy's office, this went on for 2 weeks I think, it worked, Kennedy removed his hate crimes bill and sent the other through it passed and is on the way to the President to sign! This goes to show, this public outcry does work folks, we just have to be consistent and persistent, never wavering from our stance on illegal immigration!
