I don't agree. There would have been some differences.

Republicans morphed into Democrats on too many issues and we have allowed so many foreigners to remain on outdated visas, illegal aliens to fraudulently vote, and anchor baby births to continue with divided allegiances and illegal alien family members. A pundit said that the southwest is turning hispanic and young, so the reconquista is occurring and influencing elections. Bill Richardson and others spoke today of their impact on elections in key states. Immigration is a key voting issue for many of them.

The bail out was another betrayal by Republicans and an opportunity for Senator McCain to take a lead.

We are turning into a European nation with socialist tendencies and until the Republican party returns to core beliefs and values and finds their voice to speak to the people, the Republicans will be in the wilderness and we the people will suffer greatly for it.

The more that we allow the influences and the citizens of other nations to alter our laws, and the more our constitution is threatened through judicial renegades, the more we will move away from the great United States of America.

I still trust in the Lord to protect and guide us. That is where our faith can sustain us no matter what happens and no matter who our leaders are in any election.

God Bless America, and thank you Alipacers.

People from the Third World tend to vote Democratic as they want all the freebies and handout the Democrats ofer.
You're right. Years of out of control immigration (legal) has changed the country's demographics. It's only going to get worse in the years to come.

CNN just projected Sen. Obama as our next President!

I hope they don't get too excited. There is NO way this election is not going to be contested and, at least, this time there is more than ample evidence of massive voter fraud.

Not to mention all of the other nasty little secrets and dirty tactics of Obama and his campaign.

Just because they didn't stop the election, doesn't mean that the investigations are over and the possibility of prosecutions non existent.

Besides pushing amnesty, McCain kept doing stupid things like saying Americans wouldn't pick lettuce for $50 an hour.

Republicans were doomed the day he became the candidate.

Judy, everything you have said in your posts are spot on.
That's how we've come to this point. Is there any way out of it?
    God help us.

Yes, this is a big victory for Obama, and I congratulate him for that. He's a smart guy who ran a disciplined campaign, and was able to beat the Clinton machine -- no small feat.

But let's not forget the macro forces and great timing that he had, such as running after an extremely unpopular two-term Republican President, a collapsing financial market over the past 2 months that boosted him in the polls, running against (in many ways IMO) a flawed, aging opponent in McCain, all the while helped along by a very sympathetic media. Overall he benefitted greatly from the anti-GWB, anti-status quo "let's just try something different" environment.

BTW, watch how the MSM starts cozying up to McCain again.

William I agree, the point the Republicans lost the presidency is the moment McCain won the primary. The moment Republicans lost control of Congress and the Senate was the moment they decided not to stand up to George Bush as a whole. The Republicans lost because after 8 years of Bush they thought they could shove the biggest sellout traitorous piece of crap pretend American McCain in front of us and they thought that despite all that this jerk did to stab us in the back that we would all hold our nose and fall in line like a bunch of docile sheep. Big mistake. You can only stab us in the back for so long until you pay the ultimate price.

Where were the Republicans when Bush was pushing his destructive policies down our throats? All of them were falling in line and going yes master Bush that's where. Had they as a whole stood up to them and said no Bush your policies will not pass muster here, this is not what this party is about nor is it what this country is about then they would still have control of congress and the senate.

Hey McCain, hey Republicans man that Latino vote, that black vote, that asian vote, that jewish vote and all of those other special interest ethnic and third world voting blocks you went after because you all thought you could out pander the Democrats and all of a sudden they would all come running to you, those ethnic and third world voting blocks really came through for you huh? Those stupid white conservatives they are so dumb, they don't know what they are talking about, they really fell in line and voted for you while every third worlder came pouring in after all the pandering. Maybe us stupid white bigots aren't as dumb as you make us out to be. Maybe we know what we are talking about when we say close the borders, enforce the laws, stop the spending, stop the warmongering, end free trade.

With the exception of a few patriotic Republicans (ex Ron Paul) THE REPUBLICAN PARTY AS A WHOLE CAN KISS MY ARSE AND GO HELL. YOU STAB US IN THE BACK AND YOU CAN GO SCREW YOURSELVES. ENJOY THE UNEMPLOYMENT LINE YOU SELLOUT JERKS. AFTER ALL THE PANDERING, YOU SELLOUTS GOT WHAT YOU DESERVE AND YOU WON'T GET ONE BIT OF SYMPATHY FROM ME. ALL YOU TRAITORS CAN GO TO HELL.

Bush ran the republican party into the ground while giving his base the finger at the same time. That opened the door for someone like Obama....I blame Bush!

I have called many offices this evening since this defeat of Senator McCain and left messages as to why I believe the Republicans are out in the cold. I have called the state RNC, Senator offices and tried Congressman John Boehner (no answer there). The bailout, too many visa overstayers from foreign countries and illegal aliens voting, anchor babies voting, refugees from nations that hate us who are voting too. Yes, these numbers can greatly impact an election and the more anchor babies and the more foreign guest workers with pathways to citizenship, the more that the United States is in danger.

President Bush has done great damage to the Republican Party and considerable damage to this nation. This evening is proof of that too.
