Extortion 17 is a Bigger Scandal and Betrayal than Benghazi

Extortion 17 could be a bigger scandal and betrayal of Americans than Benghazi. While Benghazi resulted in four American deaths, Extortion 17 resulted in 38 deaths, including nearly two dozen Navy SEALs. Many of these SEALs were made famous, credited with the killing of Osama bin Laden. The Chinook helicopter they were aboard was shot down by Taliban forces, which written testimony confirms knew confirms knew the elite forces were coming into the area. Families are going after the Obama administration for what they believe were leaks that led to their family members’ deaths. According to Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT), chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform subcommittee on National Security, “We’re going to dive into this.”

Billy Vaughn, father of slain Navy SEAL Aaron Vaughn, recently told Freedom Outpost that the family wants to see Vice President Joe Biden and former Defense Secretary Leon Panetta held accountable for national security breaches when they outed the SEALs.
Not only were the SEAL team members furious and shocked over the big mouths of the Obama administration beating its chest with pride over the success of killing bin Laden, but the families were equally enraged. The message compromised the safety of the unit, as well as their families.
At a gathering at the Ritz Carlton hotel in Washington, D.C. for the 50^th anniversary of the Atlantic Council, a mere two days after the raid, Vice President Joe Biden remarked to the audience,

“Let me briefly acknowledge tonight’s distinguished honorees: Adm. Jim Stavridis is the real deal; he could tell you more about and understands the incredible, the phenomenal, the just almost unbelievable capacity of his Navy SEALS and what they did last — last Sunday.”
“And what was even more extraordinary was — and I’m sure former administration officials will appreciate this more than anyone — there was such an absolute, overwhelming desire to accomplish this mission that although for over several months, we were in the process of planning it, and there were as many as 16 members of Congress who were briefed on it, not a single, solitary thing leaked. I find that absolutely amazing,” Biden added.

Forget Edward Snowden. Joe Biden made one of the biggest leaks of national security information in recent history!

Former Defense Secretary Leon Panetta made leaked similar information while in Afghanistan. Karen Vaughn, joined by her husband Billy, on Fox News said, As soon as Joe Biden announced that it was a SEAL Team who took out Bin Laden, within 24 hours, my son called me and I rarely ever heard him sound afraid in his adult life…. He said, ‘Mom, you need to wipe your social media clean…your life is in danger, our lives are in danger, so clean it up right now’.”

Mr. Vaughn, showing his anger and disgust with Biden, ripped the media. “The media has let this man get away with saying ‘Uncle Joe’s gaffes, Uncle Joe’s gaffes,” he said. “This is not Uncle Joe and he’s not some senile old grandfather. He is the second in command of the most powerful country in the world and he needs to take responsibility for the comments he makes and quit being given a pass.”
Additionally, Charles Strange, father of fallen Navy SEAL Michael Strange, has been just as outspoken as the Vaughns against both Barack Obama and Joe Biden. In July, Strange told WND “Obama sent my son to his death.”
Strange also recounted his interview with talk show host Michael Savage:



After the revelations of Joe Biden that SEAL Team 6 carried out the operation that has alleged to have killed Osama bin Laden, Strange said that members of the SEAL team echoed to their families similar concerns to that of Aaron Vaughn.
Strange told Savage that on at least three separate occasions, in June 2011, his son grabbed him by the arm and announced that he had prepared his will.
Charles Strange recalled his son’s words, “Something’s going on with the team. Somebody’s leaking things out. Something’s going on.”
Savage asked: “Your son knew he was being sent to his death?”
“They knew,” Strange answered. “They knew something was up. Every one of them.”
What’s even more disturbing is that the military claimed that the bodies were so badly burned that they had to be cremated, and they were cremated without the families’ consent.
Strange believes the military is lying.
“I saw Mike’s dead body,” he said in an interview. “It was clearly recognizable. He was clutching his gun. He wasn’t burned to a crisp. Why did they cremate my boy? They didn’t need to do that. Something’s not right.”
Rep. Chaffetz, who said he saw a photo of a deceased SEAL, believes the same thing. ”The body I saw didn’t need to be cremated,” he said.
To add insult to injury, a Muslim cleric was allowed to pray at the funeral of the fallen SEALs in 2011, reciting words to the effect, “That the fallen seals should be damned and go to hell as infidels.”
Yet, America is told to be sensitive about burning the real infidels’ Qur’an, while it’s perfectly OK for our military to burn Bibles.
Perhaps, instead of the administration worrying about Edward Snowden’s revelations of its own violations of the Constitution, it should be a little more concerned with the real national security violations of men like Biden and Panetta, or maybe the American people should be concerned with the biggest national security threat to the United States, Barack Hussein Obama.

The best answer to this travesty is to contact and help the impeach Obama highway overpass movement. This is the one issue all conservatives can unite around and therefore maximize their strength to stop the political and billionaire ruling class from destroying this country. Declassified Extortion 17 crash report answers some questions, leaves others unanswered

On August 6, 2011, insurgents shot down a CH-47 Chinook helicopter with the call sign of Extortion 17 over the Tangi Valley of the Wardak Province in Afghanistan. None of the 38 personnel onboard survived, including some 15+ members of the Navy SEALs, most of them from Team Six, a team whose identity was leaked after the Osama Bin Laden raid. A recently declassified report has provided some information regarding the specifics of the crash, but has not answered all of the questions. It is increasingly apparent that Congressional hearings will be necessary to uncover the entire story.

During the night of August 5, 2011, a Ranger unit engaged in battle had become pinned down by enemy fire and requested support. Two CH-47s, named Extortion 16 and 17 were dispatched to provide aid. At approximately 1 minute out from the landing zone, there was a volley of two or three RPGs, one of which struck an aft rotor blade of Extortion 17. The resultant explosion cut the blade in half, and the sudden shockwave from the blast severely affected the structural integrity of the aft pylon, which then separated from the craft. The separation of the aft pylon resulted in an immediate loss of lift and placed the craft into an unrecoverable spin, putting incredible pressure upon the forward pylon, which also became separated from the craft. The entire event, from initial explosion to the fuselage impacting the ground, took place in less than 5 seconds. Much of the remains of the craft were burned in the fiery explosion after impact, and all lives onboard were lost. The debris field was widely scattered, with the bulk of the fuselage and cockpit landing in a riverbed. Allegedly a flash flood after the crash washed away some of the debris, including the black boxes of the craft.

The Joint Combat Assessment Team (JCAT), who is responsible for the prepared report, routinely investigates battle damage and shoot downs of combat aircraft. They are often able to determine the weapon system and tactics used by the enemy by reconstructing the damaged craft and conducting a multitude of tests. This information is then shared to enable better employment of counter-tactics and to reduce vulnerabilities. The JCAT investigated the crash site of the Chinook, collected and reconstructed the debris at Bagram Airbase, and ran multiple tests using various types of RPGs. They have determined that Extortion 17 was most likely shot down by a Soviet-era, Bulgarian made OG-7 RPG.

The report tells us that there were 38 people on board Extortion 17. This includes the 5 crewmembers, 25 US military members, 7 Afghan National Army members, 1 Afghan interpreter, and a combat assault dog. What the report does not tell us is the manner in which these victims died. There is no medical data or other information supplied with the report. Which brings up the question, did the victims die immediately in the crash, or did some of them survive only to die later of their wounds? If some of them survived the crash, were they then killed by enemy fire in a combat situation? If some of the victims initially survived, why was there no rescue operation undertaken? Why were the bodies cremated before being returned to their families, thus rendering an independent autopsy impossible?

More questions are raised by the inclusion of the Afghan troops in the mission. There are allegations of a last minute change in Afghani personnel, yet there is nothing in the flight manifest about that. Considering the indisputable evidence of Taliban infiltration into the Afghan Army, and the numerous incidences of “green on blue” attacks, it is entirely within the realm of possibility that some of the Afghans who were originally part of the mission plan, were also working with the insurgency. Did they radio ahead with coordinates of the flight path and other mission specific plans, such as who was on the flight, after swapping themselves off of the flight? The Taliban were very anxious to exact revenge for the Bin Laden raid, and a slow-moving helicopter full of the SEALs who were part of the raid provided an excellent opportunity.

In regards to the slow-moving CH-47s, why were such vulnerable helicopters used on this mission? They were flying into a hot landing zone, in the middle of a firefight. Why weren’t smaller, faster and more maneuverable craft used for the insertion flight? The area was also a well-known hotbed of insurgent activity, with no less than 5 documented and confirmed incidents of surface to air fire on US aircraft within the prior two months. The report states that two AH-64 Apache gunships were providing an escort; yet they were not in a position to protect the unarmed and defenseless transport craft.

Why was their flight path not pre-cleared of the enemy with suppressive fire, as protocol states? Why was there not more support aircraft for their protection?

Most SEAL teams operate in anonymity, as do the other Special Operations Forces of the US military. This is by design, as their missions often require stealth and they usually go after high-value targets. For this, the enemy hates them, and any chance for revenge against them is sought. With that in mind, why then was the identity of Team Six revealed by President Obama and Vice President Biden? Could they not have glorified themselves in the victory of Bin Laden’s death without blowing the cover of Team Six? By continuously trumpeting the details and basking in the glory of the Bin Laden raid, Obama and Biden put the SEALs at a much higher risk of retribution, as the Taliban and Al-Qaeda vowed retaliation for Bin Laden’s death. As mentioned previously, there is no doubt that the enemy has infiltrated the Afghan Army. Given that, was Team Six deliberately set up? If so, by who, and why?

One other thing mentioned by the report is that the no significant action was taken against the point of origin of the attack. This is despite the fact that both Apache crews reported seeing the flashes of the RPGs being launched and were able to pinpoint the point of origin, as well as the presence of an AC-130 in the immediate aftermath. This means that in all likelihood, the insurgents who brought down Extortion 17, and all the Americans on board, were never identified, never caught, and there is no way to know if justice will ever be served upon them.
