Bear Stearns & Deutsche Bank, no better than Swift
True story.
I know a guy who worked for both of these companies for years, earning *tons* of money. All the while he was illegal-as-all-get-out. He ended up marrying a friend of mine right after I learned he was illegal. Which was lucky for him, because I was going to report his butt (he's a jerk to boot!).
How could these companies not know? Or... did they not even care?
And how can someone who doesn't have a visa or green card even get a marriage liscense? When I got married they asked for all sorts of legal documents!
Humph!

Are you sure he is illegal? I don't know anything about these companies, but I do know that financial institutions check everything very closely before they hire anyone. Drug test, background check, credit check etc... I am wondering myself, because this seems out of the ordinary.

Do you know what he does for a living/job title?

edstate, you would not report him as being illegal because he married a friend of yours? I am sorry, not trying to come down hard on you but if everyone refused to report illegals simply because they had the good sense to marry a friend of theirs, not many would get reported. These people are smart, they know to hook themselves up by marrying a legal citizen of this country, most are only using these citizens!

No no... I didn't report him because I didn't know he was illegal until about a month before the wedding. And apparently they had "gotten the ball rolling" in a big way in terms of paperwork, etc. In fact, I was under the impression that they had already gotten their marriage license by the time I found out.
I remember the conversation I had w/ our mutual friends. When I found out I was apoplectic, and they said "what...! we're you going to report him!?" And I said "you bet your ass I was!"
It's still quite a sore subject, frankly.
I guess it was sort of like once they got their legal foot in the door, he didn't mind letting the big secret out.
For the record, they didn't get married just to make him legal.
Neese: he was/is a bond analyst. Off the top of my head, I can't remember where he works now.Just because you're used to something doesn't make it right.

Okay, that makes more sense to me. Hiring on the investment side is very loose. I remember getting a loan application from a man who was a Trader, and he was mad when we would not give him a loan. He was from the middle east and did not report his income, but swore he made a lot of money. It still makes my blood boil! Who do these people think they are living in the US, reaping the benefits and not reporting their income? And...they get mad when they don't get their way.
