Farmers Whining Due to Shortage of Labor

Was watching a TV broadcast the other day about this peach farmer who was whining because he has only half his work force. He stated that many other farmers are scaling back the amount of crops they are planting nowadays.

He said the workers are afraid to come to work because of the increased crackdowns. I am glad they are afraid to come to work and glad this guy is afraid they are going to come to his farm and raid it.

Maybe Bush is finally seeing it our way or is this just to appease the republicans for now and quiet them for the remaining 2 years he has in office?

THERE IS NO WORKER SHORTAGE. AND I CAN TELL YOU RIGHT NOW THAT FARMERS ARE NOT GOING TO LET ANYTHING ROT.

THEY JUST DONT WANT TO PAY DECENT WAGES. THEY WANT SLAVES WHO DONT MIND LIVING FOUR FAMILIES TO A TWO BEDROOM HOUSE BECAUSE THEY ARENT PAID ENOUGH TO GET STANDARD HOUSING.

THEY ALSO DONT WANT TO HIRE WORKERS WHO HAVE ANY POWER TO STAND UP TO THEM OR SUE THEM IF THEY GET INJURED. THEY DONT WANT TO FOLLOW ALL THOSE PESKY LABOR LAWS EITHER.

WHEN THEY HIRE ILLEGALS....OR EVEN SOME LEGAL IMMIGRANTS....THOSE WORKERS DONT REALLY KNOW THE LABOR LAWS. THEY ENCOURAGE THEM TO NOT LEARN ENGLISH THEREBY KEEPING THEM IN THE DARK ABOUT WHAT THEIR RIGHTS ARE.

THESE EMPLOYERS ARE VERY CORRUPT AND THEY WANT TO CONTINUE TO SKIRT THE LAWS.

    Sounds like ................

Sounds like real cheap slave labor camps.

In the military we followed the 6 P's

Pi_ _, poor, planning results in Pi_ _, poor, performance

farmers already make a lot of money and will get no sympathey from me as far as illegal immigrants.

Your an American... use your brain and come up with a fix.... if you want the crop picked bad enough you will pay people at the correct scale for what you want...

We will no longer subsidize this Bu_ _ SHI_

And, these farmers seem to forget.....WE are their ultimate survival.

They grow the crops, illegals pick the crops, the stores buy those crops, we buy those crops.

If we buy less, or none, of the crops, the stores don't order so many of those crops, the farmers don't make so much money off their crops.

Is that clear enough for them to understand?

Maybe the farmers need to get into the 21st century and not go in reverse back to 7th century BC.

I remember when growing up and the schools teaching about all the progresses being made by farmers in America; they never mentioned the slave labor.

How about using mechanization to harvest crops? That way there is no temptation to rip off anyone/everyone in sight.

Then we could feel good about REAL progress.

Between 2000-2005 3 MILLION AMERICAN WORKERS were put out of work because of factories going overseas! That is just factories going overseas!!! It doesn't include in sourced workers (H1-Bs), illegals scabbing work! We have an unemployment rate at 4.6% in Jul 2007, so hire these Americans!!!

Bet if the Agricultural sector ever unionized, the unions would make sure these illegals wouldn't be invading the fields.

I for one am sick of this "oh, poor me, if we don't have enough workers, we won't be able to make as much money..." statements.. well who's fault is that..

And what about all these illegals running the roads with no license killing or injuring Americans when they get in auto accidents? I've certainly seen a rise in these occurrences over the past 5 years and drinking & driving is the root cause the majority of the time.
