Thread: "Fix Your Accent" Signs cropping up all over....

Something new is happening on the streets of L.A.! Everywhere I go, I see hand-made flyers, large poster sized professional signs, and lots of in-between signs...advertising "FIX YOUR ACCENT"!

I'm not an elocutionist (in fact I can't even spell the word, lol), but this is just bizarre! Are they going to offer up plastic surgery after the accent is gone...to make them look more 'American'? Or maybe they think not having an accent will make it easier to steal jobs from Americans....I don't know....it's just very, very strange.

I think you have hit the nail on the head. On my last construction project there were quite a few Latinos. Some of them spoke no English, but others were quite fluent. These may be 1980's anchors, or US citizens, who have left the construction downturn in California to find work elsewhere. Migratory labor has always existed in this country, but now we have an international contingent fused into the American population. And in times of scarcity some advantages help.....

This does not surprise me, as they are trying EVERYTHING now!!

There was an article about a month ago........It was about an illegal Chinese woman who was trying to prevent being deported. Her attorney was using----she could not get pregnant and have a kid---in order to prevent her deportation!!! Fortunately, the judge did not go along with it.

La Raza has told illegals to say that they are from Puerto Rico in order to prevent being deported.

and blend more easily into our society so that their illegal status will go undetected, especially WHILE VOTING!!!
