Lone Protester- Letter From A Friend

O Happy day! Terry vs the sanctuary city of Columbia, SC is but a bad memory.

When I first heard of Terry's dilemma in July of 2007, I admit I was skeptical...only a nut would go out there and act like that. He was arrested for cursing and when i heard that the ghastly words were "Cheap bastard" I said, this is wrong! I realized that he was doing had to be done for the good of the people, for his livelihood and for his family. He was protesting illegal aliens and HE was the one hauled off in handcuffs to spend the night in jail. As people began to show support for him he gained strength and courage in the knowledge that he was not alone in his struggle. I am honored to have been standing with him in his fight here in South Carolina.

I'm sure Terry knew that protesting a jobsite full of illegal aliens could cause him problems. He was dragged through the Columbia City Court system for 8 months as they tried to wear him down and will him away. How dare him expect them to do the right thing and call ICE.

Comically, the Prosecuter's office dug the hole deeper every time they tried to steal his Constitutional rights. Tactics like forgetting to change the message on the juror's answering machine did not go unnoticed. Consequently, the jury didn't show up-imagine that!?

In final desperation, the Prosecutor, Mr. Walker, tried his law school tricks of attacking Terry's skill and character. It is nearly impossible to take down an honorable man, so Walker had his work cut out for him. In the end, the jury saw through his weak performance and voted on the side of the Constitution. I think that Walker was simply unprepared because the case was insignificant to him. He did not know that he was up against a patient and calculating force known as the Patriot movement, evident in the heart and soul of Terry Funderburk.

I praise Judge Steven Dennis for sticking to the law and giving Terry his fair and just day in court. Certainly he could have followed the lead of the prior judges and fiddle-faddled the time away while they used smoke and mirrors to try to get Terry to plead guilty and go away.

But he did not stop until he got his Constitutionally guaranteed jury trial. He could feel the pulse of the country behind him and he was not backing down.

Even the reporter for the State newspaper was biased and showed contempt for Terry and his supporters. She did not wait for the verdict on the 20th and intentionally missed her opportunity to interview Terry after the 'not guilty' verdict was read. This SC patriot would not get to smile for the camera in Columbia, because the city gov'ment has the media wrapped around their proverbial finger...or is it the other way around? The very Constitutional amendment that allows her to write her biased opinions was not significant enough for her to bother with.

The first two judges, the prosecutor, the reporter, the Mayor, the city gov'ment, the city police chief...NONE of them know how blind they are.

Forrest Gump said it right;"Stupid is as stupid does".

    When I saw this article:

Court clears roofer who protested 'illegals'
Funderburk found not guilty of disorderly conduct
    By Noelle Phillips
The State (Columbia, SC), February 21, 2008
    http://www.thestate.com/business/story/323142.html

A Lugoff roofer who gained national attention for getting arrested while protesting illegal immigration was found not guilty of disorderly-conduct charges Wednesday in Columbia Municipal Court.

I shared it with friends asking that "it only takes a spark to get a fire going" !

We have a right to declare our rights as Americans and that we do have a legal process for immigrants to apply. They need to take a number and wait in line.

I ask that we give America back to Americans!
    From the Border Movie:

I will not sell my country out ~ I WILL NOT!
I'd like to see that pride back in AMERICA!!!

I am just glad that it is over with. My wife and i were going to the bank a little bit ago and my mind started wandering and I started worrying about my case. Then I realized that I don't have to worry about it anymore. lol.
That was Kendra, a close friend of mine that has supported me through thick and thin, that wrote this letter. She is very active in our movement and she was in court with me every time I went. She lives in Charleston and drove up here for every appearance.
