It just came over the Fox News crawl that Democrats scheduled and announced the Senate Judiciary Hearings on Judge Sonia Sotomayor without consulting or advising Sen. Jeff Sessions, the Ranking Republican on the Judiciary Committee. It evidently is very rare for this to happen, and it appears to me to be an overt act of disrespect, not only to Sen. Sessions and the Republicans members of the committee, but to the American people as well.

Perhaps ALIPAC and other leaders in this movement will be writing to Sen. Leahy to express displeasure that Sen. Sessions, who has bent over backward to be fair and gracious about this nomination from the beginning, has been treated in such an underhanded and disrespectful manner in return. The Judiciary Committee should represent no political party in its hearings for a Supreme Court Justice, but the best interests of the American people. And it was in this spirit that Sen. Sessions pledged repeatedly to conduct them.
