Thread: France Bans Soccer Game if Anthem Booed

"FRANCE TO HALT GAMES IF ANTHEM IS BOOED"

"Any football match in France before which the country's national anthem is booed will now be immediately stopped", French Sports Minister Roselyne Bachelot said Wednesday after meeting with President Sarkozy."

The action followed the booing of the French national anthem Tuesday at a "friendly match" between France and Tunisia. Similar incidents have occured in matches with other North African countries such as Algeria and Morocco; both, like Tunisia, are former colonies of France.

Posters from California advise us that booing during the playing of our national anthem is common there now when the United States plays a soccer team from Mexico. Although we do not have a "sports minister", and it appears Mexico is more determined that we become their colony than the other way around, perhaps France's official action can be an inspiration for us to seek an official curb on any displays of public disrespect at sporting events when our national anthem is played! Enough people writing and calling the right people can be a real force for positive change!

The Mexicans boo our anthem and chant Osama! Osama! at soccer games against America.

France is getting it right now that their illegal aliens, amnestied into guest workers, have been burning their streets for two years in a row.

They are being booed by the primary host countries that are sending in most of their illegal aliens from North Africa. They should close down the games and refuse to play their enemies in soccer.

America should do the same with Mexico.

Those inclined can write expressing their displeasure at hearing of our national anthem being booed by crowds in the United States at soccer matches between U.S. National Soccer Teams and those representing other countries.

I know Mexicans whose children have assimilated or are in the process of assimilation so that's not entirely true.

This is a very easy problem for all of us to solve. Just don't attend a soccer game.

Taxpayers should demand that these stadiums that host this sport also shut down when the anthem is booed. Afterall we usually have to pay for these stadiums to get built, not the trash that goes there and shows such disrespect to this country.

Soccer games in Europe turn into violent tribal wars, more often than admitted. But the French have got it right: you don't insult the country you are in (including the US, which may not be a country anymore), but I am proud of the French a few years ago for banning headscarves for female Muslim students in their public schools. They are good at putting their foot down about what they will tolerate, so why the pudding won't we? Oh, it guess it is not politically correct for a nation of "immigrants: legal and illegal."
