The point to all of this is, the pressure needs to stay on these Senators to recognize their futures if they try to resurrect this bill.

I believe that once President Bush returns, it will be propped up again.
One of the things we need to do, and I am not sure exactly how, is to ensure ALL of the provisions of the bill get publicized so that the public is fully aware of its implications. For example, I just read an AP release on my WEB Home Page that was titled "Provisions of the Immigration Bill". It did not say "Main Provisions" or "Some Provisions", so an uninformed reader would be led to believe these were the only issues in the bill. Of course the list of provisions was short, and did not address the worst details. More importantly, the list did not include the 2.5 trillion dollar cost estimate by the Heiritage Foundation; did not address the 'Dream Act' whereby US taxpayers pay for the college educations of illegal aliens ; the SPP funding of Mexican infrastructure: nor any of the 20 negative points brought out by Sen Jeff Sessions, Rep Duncan Hunter, Rep Tom Tancredo and others. And prepare yourselves for more sob stories. Harry Reid, on C-SPAN last night, while he was closing out the session, related a real tear-jerker about a little girl in a small Nevada town who told him how she was the smartest kid in her class but could not go on to college because she was an illegal alien and could not afford it. I have to admit, the kid is smart to put the bite and the burden on the government and the taxpayer. Me, I'm just dumb. I worked my way through college.

Exactly, couldn't agree more you are just the kind of people we should be helping to go to school not people who are not even suppose to be in this country, the waste of our taxpayer money is maddening.

All American citizens should come first, I would not mind my tax money at all if it was to help American Citizens

My son went to college and worked his way by working in a K-mart store and bussing tables in a restuart. Maybe this mexican girl was the smartest in her class but not smart enough to get a job.

I've got a kid that made it halfway through college that wants to go back and one that will be going to college in a few years. Both of my kids are working and saving now to help pay for it and I will be working two jobs starting this fall to help them pay for college. They will both be taking out student loans to pay for college. NO TO A DREAM ACT FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS-citizen kids are the ones who need help!

If you have a few minutes, call and thank the heroes such as Byron Dorgan (202-224-2551), Jeff Sessions (202-224-4124), David Vitter (202-224-4623), Jim DeMint (202-224-6121) & others.

And what's this "Dream Act" business? I deduce from the soppy-sounding name it's a proposal for another giveaway to impoverished illegal aliens from Mexico and elsewhere. Like most of you, I worked my way through college, and now am busting my butt investing in 529 plans for my children.

Populist, it's a bill introduced to give children of illegals, and illegal children in state tuition rates. Basically it gives illegals the same advantages as American children in going to college.

The "Dream Act" gives preferential treatment to illegal aliens in that they receive in state tuition while American citizen students must pay out of state tuition. They are not supposed to allow this unless all students can receive this advantage. So a Dream for illegals and a Nightmare for American citizens and legal residents.

A clear path for these same illegal aliens to receive discounted in-state tuition rates at all state colleges and universities across the country, while American citizens from other states must pay the full tuition rate. Just spoke to Senator DeMint's office and they believe the bill will rise from the ashes. Just what form it will take, they are not sure.
