FRIDAY RELAX TIME , A MIXED BAG TONIGHT

I'm kind of in a fair mood tonight , I'm going to give you a few new and a few old reposts

Let me know what you think
    --------------------------------------------------------
    The Canarios by
    Gaspar Sanz

This is the traditional version. A brutal piece of music for guitar

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=prCfgZRzHz4

Interpretation by Emerson , Lake and Palmer

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4tWV57xgjg

    ---------------------------------------------------------------
I give you a vid and cut that still amazes me to this day
Celtic Woman , "Sun , Sky , Dawn " with a bit of a "kicker"
If you think you can do this , I'll buy you a beer

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJhfRLZXDIs
    ---------------------------------------------------------------
There is a battle raging on youtube on who does the better version of this song , Feel free to add your 2 cents
The song is "MAY IT BE" From the Lord of the Rings movie
It was originally performed by Enya , here is her version
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RY5SWRHGYU4

Lisa Kelly of Celtic Woman also does a version
I feel Lisa blows it out of the ball park and is far superior to the Enya version
    WHAT SAY YOU ?
    Lisa Kelly
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RugSclNY4y8

Don't try to understand some of the lyrics , they are in Elvis as written by Jrr Tolkien

Lisa Kelly is way above the normal , not even in the same league as
the greatest pop singers , What is popular and what is really good are two different things
There are singers out there that will rip your heart out.
Lisa rates high on that list

"By god, this is absolutely beautiful! I had goose bumps all along listening... Sindarin is such an ethereal language and sung by such an ethereal woman with such an ethereal voice - Heaven!"

Tolkien created at least 3 workable and logical "Elvish" languages
The man was the greatest genius in the last thousand years (jmo)
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

Again I want to do a brief highlight on the music of YES ,
Especially the work of Steve Howe on Guitar and Chris Squire on Bass
This is an old and a new cut
Keep in mind , like all the 70s bands , these guys are not just playing this stuff , They wrote this stuff and if you think these types of compositions are easy, think again

    Yes , from Yessongs

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xql99I1VSdI
They don't show many cuts of the bass , but listen to the bass line ,he flat out is blazing , Steve Howe on Gutar, What a freakin master
Even though its a vid , just picture the sound that must have been
    blowing off that stage

And now an updated version of Yes , doing a song of "CLOSE TO THE EDGE"

This was the last version I could find with Jon Andresson
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2Kcs4Xmb8k

They have aged but still don't miss a lick
Remember , they not only can perform this stuff , they also WROTE it
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Emerson Lake and Palmer
    A most fantastic song
    From Trilogy
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQxc2-ERPug

Please listen to the lyrics , Please

    "Won't you refuse
    to be used"

While Emerson Lake and Palmer had many works of genius , this one stands out

Take the time , listen , My God , to be able to write such a piece of music
    "PIRATES"

    Commentary on "Pirates"

"This is absolutely brilliant. I shake my head in amazement that three guys can sit down at their instruments and make this. I mean, Jesus, where to start? Not exactly a three cord blues jam."

"Anchored , in an indigo moon lit bay
God Eye , round fires the sea thieves lay
Morning , White shells and a pipe of clay
As the wind filled their footprints
    They were far far away"

Who today can write such lyrics ?
