Make illegals - and officials - show IDs

DEAR EDITOR:

I am tired of hearing officials complain that asking people to show ID is "profiling." I am an 83-year old native-born American who, most of my life, has had to provide identification for almost everything I do. Currently, it is mandatory that I show my ID when:

* pulled over by the police

* making purchases on my department store credit card

* showing up for a doctor's appointment

* filling out a credit card or loan application

* applying for or renewing a driver's license or passport

* applying for any kind of insurance

* filling out college applications

* donating blood

* obtaining certain prescription drugs

* making some debit purchases, especially if I'm out of state

* collecting a boarding pass for airline or train travel.

I am sure there are other examples that I cannot think of at the moment, but I think you get the idea - we citizens have to prove our identity almost every day of our lives. However, our leaders think it is unlawful to ask illegal immigrants to prove who they are. I think some of our leaders should also have to do the same thing.

Anyone who is afraid to have to prove their identity must have something to hide, so why should they be exempt from what we have to do?

Also, every other country in the world has more security along their borders than we do, so why should we not be able to protect our border with Mexico and Canada to the same level?

ILLEGAL ALIENS ARE THE ONLY ONES CRYING FOR THIS. THOSE WHO HAVE LEGAL DOCUMENTS DO NOT COMPLAIN. THE ONES COMPLAINING ARE THE ILLEGAL ALIENS BECAUSE THEY ARE UNABLE TO SHOW A LEGAL DOCUMENT TO DEMONSTRATE THEY ARE IN THE UNITED STATES LEGALLY. SO, DO NOT WORRY JUST LET THE ILLEGALS SAY WHAT THEY WANT TO SAY. LET'S ENFORCE CURRENT IMMIGRATION LAWS. AND LET'S HAVE SB 1070 ACROSS THIS NATION. AND REMOVE FROM OFFICE ALL THE POLITICIANS WHO SUPPORT AMNESTY FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS. LIKE CHRISTIE, THE NJ GOVERNOR. HE JUST SAID THAT THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION SHOULD PUSH FOR AMNESTY FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS THIS YEAR. NO. WE AMERICANS DO NOT SUPPORT AMNESTY.

I thought that our immigration policies already required immigrants to have their papers with them at all times. If legal, if you have green card. If not, you have nothing. You are suppose to show your pertinent ID whenever asked for it.

I have to show mine and prove who I am
SO ILLEGAL ALIENS NEED TO DO THE SAME WITHOUT QUESTION! DEPORT THEIR *&^%
NO AMNESTY!
