    All New Political Party

Someone suggested starting a thread on a new political party, so here goes!

I have been researching this myself for the last couple of years based on the facts that there is really only ONE political party in the country and those that are suppossed to represent us refuse to do so.

Therefore, we need to start our own party, starting with a name, and a charter that will serve define what we stand for and what we will represent going forward. And although we all stand together on illegal immigration, we must be cognizant of the fact that there are many more issues in this country and we cannot expect to succeed as a single issue party.

Let's chat this up and get this party started!

    Sounds like fun!

Starting with the name...here are a couple suggestions:

    American Unity Party
    United American Party

Once we come down on a name, it would be helpful to put out an outline or agenda of some basic subjects/issues from which we should develop core values and principles.

    But first things first.

    How about the Patriot Party?

I posted on this topic yesterday. I have been asking some of the same questions that you raised in your post for some time.

I think that what this country needs is a party whose charter puts the needs of the country first. You know like the writers of the Declaration of Independence did or the framers of the Constitution. I think that a party that supported the US Constitution as it was written would go a long way to correct the abuses of power that we are witnessing.

One of the responses that I got yesterday was from someone who suggested that the Constitution Party fits the bill. I will admit that I have not visited their website yet or read their charter. I plan to do so.

Others might suggest that the Libertarian party fits the bill.

Since this organization is a non-partisan group. I would suggest that we start a thread on alternative parties in general. This would be a place where anyone could post news on the numerous minor parties. Everyone could read this thread and decide if one of these parties satisfies their needs. We could also post news about newly created parties or rumors of new parties.

    Just a thought.

Starting a party is a lot of work and it may take years.

    We Can't Count on Republicans

There should be no doubt that after this shamnesty debacle that a new party needs to be formed but not a lunatic fringe party with a one-note message. No Ralph Nader stuff, and with the disgust with El Presidente Boosh and the RNC losing donations by the millions, people are going to be looking for a new party to join. Where there's a will, there's a way.

Well there's already the Libertarian Party which I'm partial to.
But a new party from scratch? hmm let's see:
    the Get'er Done Party;
    or
the Sweep Party (clean out DC)
    or
the Constitutional Party (that may have already been one but we can recycle)
    or
    the Right Party!

It takes a lot of work to start a new party. That's why the socialist took over the Democrats, it was easier to do that then start up a new party.

    A new party.

A new party will take years to build. One of the mistakes that the Reform Party made was in fielding a presidential candidate before they had a base of elected officials. It's hard to resist the knee-jerk reation to run a candidate for President.

Any new party should concentrate its early years on getting city councilmen, mayors, dog catchers, etc. into office. Then congressmen and senators. Finally, the presidency. This is the only way to build legitimacy.

This is the mistake that the other minor parties make over and over again. This is why the media continues to talk about a "Third Party". We already have a third party, plus a fourth, fifth, and sixth. Sadly though none of them has a member of Congress so the media can just ignore them.
