Is The GOP Already Planning A Strategy To Blow Its Chances In 2014 Midterms?

Clearly the Republican party is divided these days. The question is twofold: are the differences within the party more important than its opposition to the Democrats, and, will it cost the GOP in the 2014 elections?

As reported by The Washington Times, multiple establishment groups are already gearing up to attack conservatives in the party. For example:

  • Karl Rove’s American Crossroads is “preparing an aggressive effort to groom and support more centrist Republican candidates.”
  • The Chamber of Commerce, who supports illegal and cheap labor and wants to push for amnesty and further corporate welfare, recently devoted “at least 50 million dollars” to stop Tea Party candidates and promote moderate Republicans.
  • Former Republican Rep. Steve LaTourette has started a PAC that has aired aids against the Tea Party in states where 2014 Senate contests will be held.

The Tea Party was formed – and exists – for a reason. Grass roots, conservative Americans felt their voices weren’t being heard by the establishment in Washington. Lower taxes. Less intrusive government. More individual liberty. Like it or not, the Tea Party struck a nerve with much of Middle America – and it still does.

Have Tea Party Republicans in Congress handled everything perfectly? Of course, not, but which faction of either party has?

The larger question is this: Why are some Republicans spending so much time, money and effort to defeat other Republicans?
