Rockingham County Sheriff Sam Page

This is not Sheriff Page’s first trip to Capitol Hill. On October 11, 2011, Page travelled to Washington, D.C. after spearheading a meeting between Sheriffs from across the nation and U.S. Congressional Representatives to dialogue on the topics of Criminal Illegal Aliens, the security of our national borders, the dangers of Mexican Drug Cartels, and current immigration programs such as “287-G” and “Secure Communities”. On November 30, 2011, Sheriff Page testified before the U.S. House Judiciary Committee in Congress about the impact and success of the “Secure Communities” program. Sheriff Page also sent President Barack Obama a letter pleading for increased security of our borders after returning from a fact-finding trip to the Arizona border in 2010 to see the problems faced by those law enforcement agencies first hand.
Sheriff Page has scheduled meetings with Congressional Staffers during his upcoming trip to continue to address these issues and attempt to inspire change. Page also hopes to rally Congressional and Sheriffs’ support to reclassify the Mexican Drug Cartels as “Terrorist” organizations and to continue the effort to secure our porous borders, which affects every American’s security.
