GOP House Leaders Move Budget Resolution Forward

UPDATE: Calling Obamacare a “train wreck,” House Speaker John Boehner said today that he and the leadership have decided to align with conservatives and withhold all funds for Obama’s healthcare law in the Continuing Resolution.

“We’re going to continue to do everything we can to repeal the president’s failed health care law,” the Speaker this morning. “This week, the House will pass a CR that locks the sequester savings in, and defunds ObamaCare. The president has signed seven bills over the last two and a half years to make changes to ObamaCare, and I sincerely hope our friends in the Senate have plans to make this an eighth time… it’s time to protect American families from this unworkable law.”

Today, House Republican Leadership starts the process of moving the Continuing Resolution forward, deciding what the government funding bill will look like in order to bring it to vote no later than Friday.

This said, we need to confront GOP House leaders immediately and demand that they adopt a Continuing Resolution that fully defunds Obamacare and force the Senate to vote on it:

Speaker Boehner cancelled last week’s vote after House conservatives made a strong stand against the plan after finding it would’ve allowed the Senate to fund Obama’s healthcare law. We need to keep this pressure up!

If we want to be rid of Obamacare, as Rep. Paul Broun (R-GA) says, this is our “last best chance.”

In these final hours, we are urging all of our grassroots activists to contact lawmakers and make a strong push against funding Obamacare in the spending bill this week!

Republican House members have the numbers to stop Obamacare before more of the law kicks-in on the first of October and they have no excuses not to: beingpatently unconstitutional, the largest “tax” in American history, and the number-one job killer in America, Obama’s Big Government Healthcare Law is beyond defense!

The People elected a Republican Majority in Congress, and the Republican Majority must lead by passing a Continuing Resolution that does not fund Obama’s healthcare law.

Rep. Steve Stockman’s H.Res.333 and Rep. Tom Graves’ H.J.Res.62 would both accomplish this – the Graves Plan already having dozens of co-sponsors.

However, while there is a clear will in Congress to defund Obamacare this week, some GOP members are starting to say that we should defund the law after it kicks in next month via the debt ceiling talks.
We disagree; the time to defund the Healthcare Law is now! Waiting is not an option – the American People have already waited three years!
