GOP Joins Team Obama

The merger of the RNC with the DNC has begun. Led by John Boehner 162 House Republicans voted to join Team Obama and become part of the problem. Conservatives across the nation are fuming over the betrayal handed to them by the Republican Party and are left wondering if the GOP is worth saving. For years we have contemplated the possibility of leaving the GOP and forming a new political party that would be more to our liking, and now that the GOP has responded to an overwhelming mandate to end Obama’s amnesty by totally surrendering to his wishes, it appears we may now have no other choice.

Make no mistake, it is no longer Obama’s amnesty plan, it has now become Washington’s amnesty plan. By voting to fund the program the GOP has become complicit in the President’s illegal, unconstitutional, and immoral scheme. Contrary to what some may believe, Boehner did not push this bill through because he feared being blamed for a government shutdown; he did so because he wants to pass amnesty just as much as Obama does. John Boehner and the establishment Republicans represent the wishes of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce rather than the people who voted them into office.

It is still possible to salvage something of the GOP, but if it is going to happen it will need to take place now. The most immediate step would be for Senate Republicans to do whatever is within their power to prevent this bill from being passed, at least in its current form. The next thing that must happen would be for Republicans in the House to somewhat redeem themselves by taking the steps I outlined yesterday to remove Boehner from the office of Speaker and replace him and the rest of the House GOP leadership with members who understand their role. Unfortunately, I don’t expect either of these things to happen, and that leaves us with a GOP that cannot be trusted or counted on in a fight.

So what do we do now? I won’t pretend to have the answers, but this betrayal cannot go unanswered or we will prove ourselves to be just as timid and worthless as John Boehner. One thing I do know is that I will no longer allow my name to be associated with anyone who is complicit in the effort to destroy this country and shred our Constitution, even if that means I spend the rest of my life on the losing side of every political fight of which I am a part. This is one of those times I am reminded of the words of Jesus when He said “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”

As the RNC and DNC merge and become the party of Big Government America finds itself in desperate need of a political party that will fight for small government and liberty. The hope that we could take over the GOP from within is fading fast, and unless this latest betrayal results in immediate changes to GOP leadership, it will be gone in a matter of weeks. Boehner knew going into this that there would be a conservative backlash and included in the bill a riderthat will massively increase the amount of money a single donor can give the national party committees, putting conservative groups at a disadvantage.

Conservatives are now politically homeless and the only way I can see that we will be able to save the country from the unholy alliance between Obama and Boehner is to organize ourselves into a new political party, led by a trusted Conservative with immediate name recognition (Allen West perhaps?), that will attract voters who are dissatisfied with the choices they have had, and attract conservative Republican members of Congress who are tired of being treated like the redheaded step-children of the GOP.

Perhaps there is a better plan, and if there is now would be the time to put it on the table. I am more than willing to consider all options, unless that option is to do nothing.
