Congressman Elton Gallegly (R-Simi Valley)

He wanted it in 1994, saying that the nation needed to get tough on illegal immigration.

But the chairmanship of the House Subcommittee on Immigration Policy and Enforcement went to someone else.

Now, 16 years later, Rep. Elton Gallegly, a California Republican who boasts on his congressional website that he is one of the top illegal "immigration hawks" in Congress, and that he was inducted into the “U.S. Border Control Hall of Fame,â€

One of the first acts of the Republicans in the new Congress is to repudiate the support of those who put them in office. Not making Represenative King the Chairman is a travesty that should not be ignored.

If the Republicans start sliding backwards on Immigration enforcement,they will become the second party to self-destruct.... The American people will start looking to the Tea Party,and OTHER parties yet to be formed ....

And I think Elton may very well be one of those "speak softly,and carry a big stick!" Kinda of guys!

I sure hope so!!

He is probably a better choice than King because there is so much focus on what King has said in the past. Elton can kinda slide in there "under the radar" (compared to King anyway!) and get some good stuff going without the press being quite as hard on him as they would be on King.
