Greenspan clarifies solution to "expensive US labor&quo

Last week I watched on C-Span the live broadcast of our elite discussing US COMPETITIVENESS and the role of immigration in it.... On the same panel, Mayor Bloomberg made a series of astonishing statements on the same subject.... both guys were pretty blunt, but the PRESS did not pick up these gems:

Greenspan (verbatim quote) “Income distribution is capitalism’s most vulnerable point; the system must have the trust of the people…unless the people who participate believe it is just… We can solve the problem with opening immigration to skilled workers. Our skilled wages are higher than anywhere in the world, i.e. bring in enough skilled workers so that the supply of our domestically produced skilled workers would be supplemented with a major influx of foreign skilled workers that would essentially lessen the cost of US skilled wage levels and end the concentration of income…”

    I'll post Bloomberg's comments shortly...

I paraphrase Bloomberg’s reference to immigration:

    a) The protectionist mood in the land is worrisome. The US birthrate is below replacement levels, requiring us to import at least 300,000 immigrants every year, just to stay even.

    b) We need to take care of all those who are already here and make the visa process a lot easier and faster. ......... He made no distinction between skilled and unskilled labor. He apparently does not know that we already allow almost 1 million legal immigrants every year…hmmm? And another 500,000 temporary, non-immigrant visas for various professional and skilled folks, the majority of whom somehow become permanent.

    c) we should “open the borders which will facilitate the sharing of the American Dream”…....................... I wonder: Is this being generous to the Mexicans or to Americans? Should the Mexicans and other nations not have their own “American Dream”? Should we not be exporting our form of “capitalism”, rather than just enhancing the wealth of those who profit from the importation of cheap labor, and therefore perpetuate poverty in Mexico and other places? Could it be that capitalism in Mexico would make that labor too expensive? Like the Catholic Church, they can only think about bringing those “poor souls” to the Promised Land, never promoting the Americanization of Mexico, but causing the Mexicanization of America, by importing its poverty? Does Bush not frequently state that a prosperous world is good for America? Let’s help Mexico get prosperous without affecting the US middle class pocket book. The corporate pocket-book is doing just fine

Bloomberg is a fool. No, we are not staying even. Our population growth is through the roof, increasing at a faster rate than ever before - we are on an exponential growth path. This man is simply an idiot.

And just for the record, until billionaires like Bloomberg start opening their own coffers to feed, house, educate and provide health care to those who would come across those open borders, their rhetoric just cannot be taken seriously.

We allow 2 million LEGAL immigrants every year, more than the rest of the world combined. Unless I don't understand math, 2 million is a lot more than 300,000.

more correctly stated.... we allow about 1 million "legal permanent resident aliens" into the US every year, plus another 2 million NON-IMMIGRANT (temporary) RESIDENT ALIENS through the 80 varieties of "visas", many of whom, if not a majority, end up overstaying their visas and manipulating the system through the estimated 20,000 "immigration lawyers" to buy their "Green Card"...

ALIEN is the legal definition of a "foreign born"...

This idiot wants to lower our wages even more to balance out the concentration of income? For what class mister? The middle class as we surely know that it will not affect the upper class concentration of income which is trying to run this country and import cheap labor so they can get even richer while the middle class is reduced to poverty level by an inundation of imported workers lowering the wages.

We are not buying it mister

Greenspan is the worst. As head of the Inc. Federal Reserve, he helped to fleece the American people.
