    Guardsmen overrun at the Border

National Guard unit stormed while patroling the border

A U.S. Border Patrol entry Identification Team site was overrun Wednesday night along Arizona's border with Mexico.

According to the Border Patrol, an unknown number of gunmen attacked the site in the state's West Desert Region around 11 p.m. The site is manned by National Guardsmen. Those guardsmen were forced to retreat.

The Border Patrol will not say whether shots were fired. However, no Guardsmen were injured in the incident.

The Border Patrol says the incident occurred somewhere along the 120 mile section of the border between Nogales and Lukeville. The area is known as a drug corridor. Last year, 124-thousand pounds of illegal drugs were confiscated in this area.

The Border patrol says the attackers quickly retreated back into Mexico

And this is not an armed criminal invasion? This is not an act of war? If not what is it?

    Wait a minute......

The guard is forced to retreat and the
attackers quickly retreated back into Mexico
WHY would they retreat if the National Guard had retreated?

They may have thought the Guard would be back with reinforcements or some sort of air cover. Or this was a harassment attack in which case it would be hit and run.

Wasn't it Bush's bright idea to man the borders without weapons on the guards?

One of the cable news channels I was watching tonight, don't remember which one, reported no shots were fired. My guess is the armed illegals accidently happend upon the NG in the dark and decided to bolt back to Mexico once they realized what had taken place. Just guess work on my part.

This is almost comical, can you imagine the two groups accidently bumping into one another in the dark and then bolting in opposite directions for fear of their lives.

From what I understand, even though the NG is only being used as spotters, some of them are armed. I assume their standing orders are not to confront illegals and to only fire weapons if necessary for self-defense. More guess work on my part.

Maybe we need to ask the President
If the National Guardsmen fire their weapons in self defense?
Will they also be brought to trial and sent to prison like our
    two Border Patrol Agents.

    This is totally Rediculous! Disgusting!!

What in the heck is going on...that everyone working on the Border...
supposedly protecting our country from Illegals and Drug Smugglers..
    Has their hands tied!?????

They aren't allowed to have weapons, so yes, if they fired one they'd be in a huge world of hurt.

Better for them to be killed. George wouldn't bat an eye over that.

Well we all knew this was going to happen sooner or later. We were lucky none of our troops were hurt. HAD THEY THEIR WEAPONS JORGE BOOSH THEY COULD HAVE DEFENDED THEMSELVES!

The next time, our troops may not be so lucky. Then what B/S excuse will jorge hand us?

    Shameful...
