Martinez R-FL is a coward
I was just checking the votes on the Senate's web page for how Senators voted on recent amendments. I discovered that Fl Senator Mel Martinez did not even BOTHER to vote on the amendment declaring English as the offical language of the US. What a coward! HE didn't want to lose any potential votes from supporters and opponents so he very conveniently did not vote. Sorry Mel, to me that is the same as having voted NO. If you can't be present to vote for something as important as the official language of our country, you're lazy and a coward, and playing politics to avoid having to pay the consequences for your voting record.

I live in Florida and the "official" story is that he had a prior family committment and could not be there for the voting that day.
I sent him a message telling him that just because he did not vote on English does not mean we do not know just were he stands. Of course I have sent him an Florida's other esteemed (sarcasm) senator Bill Nelson many, many letters and not have recieved 1 response, not even a form letter. Lets me know just how much they are listening to my voice.

I got form letters back from both.
and we all know what a crock of you-know-what his "prior family commitment" was preventing his voting. We all know why he didn't vote.

Did you expect anything less from a buddy of Jeb Bush? They talk a big talk but when it comes to doing something they cowrad like George and the Washington bunch will do when and if this immigration thing passes. We will be the ones paying for it, not them. They will sitting in their beach cabanas sipping Margaritas, and eating tacos with their new friends while we are paying the bill.

Hmmmmm? While Joe Biden (d. Delaware) didn't hesitate to vote against English as a national language, Tom Carper (D. Delaware) sat that one out to. I wonder if it has anything to with the fact that Carper, up for re-election this November, is facing an enforcement-only republican candidate, Jan Ting. Carper thought he had it in the bag until Jan Ting stepped in late and is creating a lot of early buzz here in the state.
Bock, bock....

I don't know for sure on this vote but I have on many issues noticed that Obama has sat out and Durbin has done his share as well. "not me!" Your right cowards.

this is so THEY'RE NOT ON RECORD for a negative vote!
Then they can say......."I didn't vote for that or against that"
That's getting old too.
They still believe we won't check the record, lol, to find out their little secrets.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
