I am in and gone

I called the 1-800 number and you have to go through several prompts. After being passed along to three different people and being put on hold, I decided to ask what is required to receive a credit card from Bank of America if I am illegal. I know that we have gone through this before, but I was curious as to the current plan.

Ian, the gentleman that I spoke with kept putting me on hold. The other two previous staff people did not seem to have the answer. It does seem that by now they would have their plan down for what is required.

Well, SURPRISE, Ian said NOTHING is required as far as identity. Why don't you or I mosey on down to the bank and try that little trick. I said you do not need a matricula consular card or anything. He said correct. He then said that the illegal may apply for a secured card. I said you mean put so much down and you will receive that much in a credit limit. He said yes. I then asked if there was a minimum. He said NO. I asked about checking too. No identity requirements or minimum.

What a deal. This is utter nonsense. Americans are having to prove who they are, where they work, how much they make, etc. and sign things saying they are telling the truth and this foolishness is allowed to go on within an organization that bears the name "BANK OF AMERICA."

Let's see is we can SHUT THEM DOWN or cripple them financially.

What is happening in the United States?

A commercial to expose them and their going ons is just the thing that will make them at least pause and think.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - In addition to scaling back its investment banking operations, Bank of America Corp. is exiting the wholesale mortgage business and eliminating about 700 jobs, bank officials said Thursday.

The nation's second-largest bank will stop offering home mortgages through brokers at the end of the year to focus on direct-to-consumer lending through its banking centers and loan officers. The move also eliminates the jobs in the bank's consumer real estate unit.

The bank shared details of the decision with The Associated Press before its public announcement scheduled for Friday.

The wholesale debt biz always looks great to banks -- until they relearn the perils of loaning money through third parties who don't have the same incentives. It's starting to look like the mortgage brokers really went on a bender this time, and bank after bank is deciding it doesn't want to have anything to do with them. Baltimore's First Mariner Bancshares got out of the wholesale mortgage business earlier this year after getting shocked by up to $42 million in bad loans. So far the mortgages that First Mariner originated with its own employees and oversight, by contrast, have been pretty much problem free. See this coming Sunday's column for more.

CHARLOTTE - Bank of America Corp., the second-biggest US bank, plans to stop making loans to mortgage brokers by year-end, a move that will cut 700 jobs, the bank said yesterday.

The exit from "wholesale" mortgage lending is part of the 3,000 job cuts disclosed Wednesday after Bank of America reported a 32 percent decline in third-quarter income on Oct. 18. Most of the other job cuts are in the bank's global corporate and investment bank, which reported a 93 percent decline in profit during the quarter.

At least 100 mortgage companies have halted loans, closed, or sold themselves this year. Foreclosures set a record in the second quarter, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association, cutting into demand from investors who buy mortgage-backed assets.

I wanted her to know that as an American I was very disappointed in an organization that bears the name America and yet gives illegal aliens access to credit. We, the American people, have to prove our identity, our income, and verify the accuracy and illegal aliens have to prove nothing. Bank of America needs to see their business fold for providing illegal aliens documentation and credit that harms America and citizens.
