HirePatriots.com began in February, 2005 as a website to serve the Marines at Camp Pendleton, Ca. The name of that site was HireMarines.com. The site was a huge success from the start. It grew from 500 visitors in its first month to 15,000 visitors by its third month. The media picked up the story. The features done for the local network news were often shown across the country by their affiliates. E-mails from military personnel from bases across the country began pouring in. They wanted to be included too. And so, just six months from the site's inauguration, HireMarines.com expanded to include every military branch and base in the nation. It became HirePatriots.com.

Letters to the Editor - 10/15/2007

By: Readers of the North County Times and The Californian

A true patriot's duty is to help veterans

The one-day jobs that are posted on www.HirePatriots.com are vitally important. Every job means far more to those who seek them than most people imagine. Besides the financial help it gives our troops and their families, these jobs also do something else that is very important: They let our troops know that there are Americans who sincerely care about their welfare. The experience of working for grateful citizens means so much to our military men and women. It prevents our soldiers from becoming disaffected and angry at our society.

It may seem to be a small thing for a resident to post a job on our Web site and to pay a soldier or sailor a few dollars for helping them do some chores but, actually, it is a very big and important thing for patriotic citizens to do.

I believe it is every true patriot's duty to let every one of our troops know that we have their backs. We are all in this together, regardless of our personal views about the war. These are arguably the finest youth of America. Supporting them is supporting ourselves.
