Hispanics make $9B impact - Slanted Study

ASHEVILLE — The rapid growth of the Hispanic population in North Carolina has produced many questions on whether its impact is positive or negative.

“Immigration can be emotional, but it has been based in stereotypes and exaggeration,” said Andrea Bazán-Manson, who served as a panelist Wednesday at the luncheon “Exploring the Economic Impact of North Carolina’s Hispanic Population.”

“Now we have a study that presents real data not in terms of numbers, but in dollars,” said Bazán-Manson, who is president of Triangle Community Foundation in Durham.

More than 125 people attended the event at the Asheville Renaissance Hotel. This was the fifth of six conferences throughout the state to discuss the findings of the UNC Chapel Hill’s research on the economic impact of North Carolina’s Hispanic population.

According to the research, the total economic impact increased from $928 million in 1990 to $9.2 billion in 2004. (MORE)...

Calling it one sided is an understatment. The spokesman for the Kenan research group, when ask about the refusal to use the word "illegal" said, they felt the use of that word was immoral. And did not correctly discribe the situation. After all, no one is illegal.

Then we have the young lady from La Raza, and El Pueblo of NC. La Raza, means "The Race". As some of the off shoot organizations have said, "For The Race everything. Outside The Race, nothing." And they have the nerve to call eveyone that wants rule of law, and a sovereign nation, "racist".

She was an open borders, one world, give illegals the same rights as taxpaying American citizens advocate.

And last, but not least, the attorney from Chapman law firm. His comments were, there is no one here that is "illegal". We need to implement justice concerning the undocumented. But of course no justice was mentioned concerning the poor hard working taxpayer. Or the distruction of the culture.

It was an interesting experience, seeing so many worship at the feet of the all mighty dollar. Without regard to the culture, historical traditions or cohesiveness of the nation.

But of course the Latino's there are going to try to use this information to their advantage. The others are just plan greedy, and their God is mammon. To bankers national sovereignty, is unimportant it seems.

Folks, the forum was so slanted, that any evidence they presented, I consider tainted.

Of course this report is slanted. Its sponsored by the bankers association. They are raking in the bucks from remittances and hispanic bank accounts that dont have to pay interest cause the owners dont give them social security numbers.

In their bright little world, it only costs NC taxpayers $100/hispanic. They assume all hispanics pay their taxes, schools only cost around 4k per child and dont include the costs to private hospitals for free hispanic care.

The $$$$ costs are obviously much higher and that doesnt include the costs at the local and federal level.

Unfortunately, this skewed report is touted by all the hispanic advocacy groups and press as proof the cost is much lower than the benefit.

Would be interesting to see a non-biased group derive some numbers.

And lets not forget the study was done by UNC with help of the Mexican Consultant in Raleigh.

It's totally bogus when they are using this study to promote illegal aliens but then measure all Hispanics contributions. We all know Hispanic Americans are great contributers, they aren't the problem.
