Police Investigating Vanity Full of Drugs
SOUTHWICK, MASSACHUSETTS (WWLP) - A very odd discovery in the town of Southwick is now part of a criminal investigation. It was in a box containing a bathroom vanity that a Southwick plumber made the discovery. “He opened it up and found what we determined was 3 kilos of cocaine and 30 pounds of marijuana in the box,” said Chief Mark Krynicki of the Southwick Police Department. 22News has confirmed that the vanity was purchased at the Home Depot store in Chicopee. The Southwick Police Department reported the incident to the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration and learned it is not the only such incident the agency is looking into in Massachusetts. In Tewksbury, a Billerica couple received a vanity purchased at a Home Depot Store. Inside was a 50 pound container filled with marijuana. As in the Southwick case, the heavy marble top of the vanity was missing from the box. How a vanity full of drugs got into the store is part of the investigation. 22News spoke with Home Depot headquarters in Atlanta, and was told that the Home Depot distribution center in Westfield serves both the Tewksbury and Chicopee stores. It is not clear whether the investigation includes this facility.
