am not positive but I think the problem may be that he was being admitted to the hospital by his doctor rather than showing up in the ER. If you go to an ER, as I understand it they must see you by law to evaluate your complaint. Any hospital that collects payments from Medicare/Medicaid and has an ER has to follow these rules. Once you are in the ER, if they need to admit you they either have to send you to a room or transfer you to another hospital. Since Ramos' son was not admitted through the ER, they could demand money up front before admission. This does not make sense and ethically it stinks to high heaven, IMO.

EVERY American should do as the illegal aliens do, go to the ER, refuse to show ID and say we have no insurance. Won't take long before something is done to close that loophole, will it?
