Berry Brigade Deployment:

HOUSTON — Syndicated radio talk host Michael Berry is calling on his listeners and current and former employees of the Johnson Space Center around the country to boycott any travel to New York City following Senator Chuck Schumer’s insult of Houston last week.

At issue is a statement Schumer made to the New York Daily News last week when informed that disappointed Texas lawmakers and citizens were trying to get NASA to reconsider the agency’s decision to give one of the four retiring space shuttles to New York instead of Houston. Schumer told the Daily News: "I say to the people in Houston: When people all around the world, in London, and Tokyo and Paris and Buenos Aires start saying, ‘Gee, I can’t wait for my trip to Houston, then you can have a shuttle.’"

Berry stated, “Politics, not merit, was behind the decision to give the shuttle orbiter to New York — rather than its rightful home in Houston. For Senator Schumer to insult Houston and, in the process, dismiss the service of tens of thousands of hard-working Americans to our space program over the last 50 years is an outrage. If the man had any decency, he would apologize.â€
