Yes, there are illegals from other countries -

    A funny story -

We were in Washington state a while back visiting our son. They lived outside Seattle near Gig Harbor. You had to cross a small bridge that spanned some backwater from the ocean. On one side was a public beach and on the other was an oyster company. Every time we passed there, we saw people, orientals, with white buckets picking up oysters, when the tide was out.

One day we bought some fish anc chips and decided to sit on the beach and enjoy them. The public beach was full of families having fun, so we decided to sit on the other side. We were just sitting, eating, and a young man drinking a beer came up and told us we would have to leave - this was private property. We apologized - he apologized. We were all TExans, and that means instant cousins when we meet away from home.

We told him we say people down there with buckets everyday picking up oysters and did they work for the company?

'No, that's just some of them 'illegal-type aliens' and there's just nothing we can do about them.'

So laws are enforced on illegals anywhere it seems.

    Jill74,
I agree, it appears that all those illegals that came 'out out of the shadows' are a group of more than 12 or even 30 million. I wish they would load them up into trucks, and carrying them all back to wherever they came from. DEPORT!!

The 11 million illegals seems to come from the official 2000 Census. Based on the roughly 8 million illegals they counted for the 2000 Census, they estimated about 500,000 NET illegals per year entered the US since the 1990 census.

So take about 8 million illegals from the 2000 census and add the estimated 500,000 net illegals per year entering the US - that gives you about 11 million estimated illegals at the end of 2005. That's of course plus or minus a couple of million.

Here's my take on the numbers.

    The U.S. Census 2000 estimated 10 million
Senator John McCain estimated 4 million in 2002
    Source: http://www.thedustininmansociety.org/ar ... feb10.html
U.S. Border Patrol fiscal 2005 apprehended 1.2 million, U.S.B.P. 'catch rate' is estimated to be 20%, meaning 4.8 million last year.
Assuming these 2 years to be 'average', 4+million times 6 years since Census equals 24 to 25 million added to the pre-existing 10 million equals 35 million here now.

It is interesting to note that in 1986, it was estimated that 1.2 million illegal aliens would qualify for THAT amnesty. The actual total was 3.5 million. Assuming a comparable miscalculation today, 35 million is a realistic number, and should be stressed in any debate. The American public has the right to know what we'd be getting into in giving another amnesty.
