It’s my understanding that e-verify ensures that the applicant is legally permitted to work here. My question is how does it work? My name and Social Security Number are permitted to work here. Does e-verify ensure that the person is really who they say they are? Does it detect mismatches between names and soc numbers?

If non-citizens are run through e-verify, but are legally allowed to work here, do they get flagged differently?

I’m extremely paranoid about identity theft and this stuff drives me nuts.
