How to make somebody REALLY MAD

My wife and I were sitting in our home when our daughter in law came in and told us some guy just walked out of the brush and asked to use our phone, she also said she saw some people on the hillside. I told my wife to call Border Patrol while I went out and talked to this guy and to come out when she was off the phone, when she came out we let the guy in and let him make his call, my wife stayed in the house while the real mountain dog and I went out to the hillside to look for the rest of them, we met up with a Border Patrol agent and walked up the hill, mountain dog alerted me to a spot and I told the agent to check in there and he came back with seven illegals, I stood watch over them as the agent and mountain dog searched for any others, a couple of other agents showed up and I told them what was going on and that the coyote was in my house so they went down and got him.
My wife, being the kind hearted person she is made some sandwiches and brought them out as they brought the coyote up in cuffs, she then proceded to read the riot act to the coyote...how dare you risk these peoples life and indanger my property..the guy started to get smart with her and the BP told him to be quiet but he keep on until I stepped forward and told him to shut his mouth, about then the BP were worried things were going to get out of hand and asked us to leave, my wife left but I stayed as I had a few things to talk to the agents about.
Anyway this coyote was not too happy, my daughter in law told me later that he flipped her off.
He is off to jail and seven others are being sent back home.

As I said, my wife is a very kind hearted person. We have both been through some hard times and and know what it is like to be hungery.
She will always feed people no matter how little we may have, that's just the way she is!
This is not a matter of being mean to people, she fed them but they were sent back home.
Things are different out here on the border and we will always give aid to those who need it but we will not allow them to come into our country.
We have no desire to be cruel to these people and we will care for them the best we can until Border Patrol arrives.

    MD,

You live in a different world. You are a little closer to the action than most of us. I'm not near the border but where my home is located, I get a lot of desperate people too. I know what you are saying. I've had all kinds of people come to my door. One night last fall, I opened the door to a woman and a baby. Her car had borken down and I gave her a blanket, talked to her while we waited for the police to assist her. One night, I was awakened by a woman and a small child screaming on the front porch. She had been in a car accident and her friend was still in the car. They were drunk, the truck flipped and the other woman was DOA. One day, I opened the door to a Hispanic man, which could barely speak English but he needed directions. He was in the wrong city. I gave him a map, pointed to where he needed to go, pointed him to the highway and sent him on his way. I don't know if he was illegal, all I know is that he had his family with him and he was lost. I get all kinds at my door and I don't open it to everyone.

You can have your opinions, conclusions and judgments about what should be done and still be humane.

MD, tell your wife I said, don't feed the coyotes. It's OK to feed every one else.

    MD,

The gall of the coyote to 1. smuggle people, 2. to ask to use your phone, 3. to flip off your wife after she fed them.

Kudos for your actions and courage.

MD, as you know I live in the Colorado mountains. We have a lot of wildlife here (no coyotes that I've ever seen - heard 'em though - the four legged kind).

I tell all new people (the flatlanders that move up here) not to feel THE WILDLIFE. We have new people move up here who think that feeding the foxes, the bears, the racoons, the deer and the elk is "cool". Then, when they put their itty bitty little doggie out to do it's business, (go back in the house, cause, after all, the yard's fenced in) and the mountain lion gets it, the people get upset.

    Hi Cheyenne,
I used to live within walking distance of the Colorado river and we had all kinds of critters come through, even some wild turkeys. I never saw any coyotes or mountain lions but I knew they were there, you could hear the coyotes and I found lots of lion tracks. A friend of mine was attacked by a lion up there while he was elk hunting, bad move, it is now stuffed and mounted. I always carried my rifle with me when out hiking in the mountains. I took the pic of my in my avatar while we were sitting on a hillside overlooking a herd of about 100 antelope. I also know all too well what you mean about flatlanders.

    Dixie,
I now live in a very rural high desert area and the only thing between me and the border is some BLM land, so it is a very different world than being in a city, lots of four legged coyotes up here and I have seen some mountain lion tracks on my property and I still carry my rifle with me when out on walks.
My wife is a very kind and caring person, not long ago a young woman came by, her husband had left her and her four kids with no food or money so my wife went in and packed several boxes of food for her and the kids to eat, she would rather do without than see a child go hungery.
In the group that was caught yesterday there was a young woman and a fourteen year old kid, this is why my wife went off on the coyote.
BTW the coyote didn't get anything to eat as he had his hands cuffed behind him.
I do have some sympathy for these people, this is no way to live and it's all the fault of their government and ours as well.
I will keep catching them and I am sure my wife will keep feeding them but they going back across the border, the more we stop here the less inland states have to deal with.

Kind people like your wife are the salt of our earth. Truthfully, I really don't know what I'd do if someone showed up at my house that way.

That's not entirely true - I'd feed them. I've taken in too many "lost souls" in my life to stop now. I get "picked on" sometimes by family and friends because I'm so "naive". But, you know what, I've been this way most of my life and it ain't about to change.

I must admit that I have gotten a lot more selective as I've gotten older (and gotten dumped on more than a few times). But, I'd still feed them -- then call the cops like you did.
