Update About My State Senator on 287 (g)

Some of you may remember last month when I posted that I had called one of my state Senators at home to talk to him about illegal aliens in Idaho. At the time, I mentioned 287 (g) to him and he was really interested in it. He told me he had to go out of town the next day, but if I would give him some time when he got back to research 287 (g) he would call me back.

And he did, today. We talked for about 40 minutes on the phone. He not only researched 287 (g), he personally got in touch with David Motley (Public Relations) in Waukegan, Illinois. Because southern Idaho is in desperate straits with the illegal alien population down there, he thinks the program would be good for Idaho. His only concern is where to get the money until Homeland Security reimbursed the state. Idaho doesn't do anything unless it has the money. That's how we stay in the black all the time. Anyway, he assured me he was going to bring up this issue when the Senate meets again in January. I asked him what the chances were of getting the legislation passed and he said the chances were very good. He quoted the votes when Idaho voted in legislation this year to prevent illegal aliens from receiving State benefits. It passed the Senate 29-6 and the House 47-21. He also reminded me that last year we passed an English only law for Idaho.

We talked for a long time about all the aspects of illegal immigration and I was satisfied with his views and his answers. One thing in particular. I told him that a landscaping company from the State of Washington was over here doing sod work for an addition on one of our public schools. The landscaping company sent over a crew of illegal aliens. He said we couldn't do anything about about another state doing work here, but we certainly could do something about the illegals working on a contract paid by our taxpayers. He said he knew the Superintendent of the school very well and he was going to give him a little phone call. The Senator promised to keep me informed, although he said after talking to me he thought I was more informed on this issue than he was. I told him I've been doing my homework.

    Oh, Wow!

That sounds great and 'you done good'.

Did you state actually vote to not give illegals benefits and English only?

    How is it working?

Yes, our state did, nntrixie, and I haven't heard that it isn't working. But if all our government documents are in English only, it would be kind of hard for the illegals to fill out the forms, right?

Yes, I do remember you posting this story Tinybobidaho, and thanks for the update. Sounds like there are some thoughtful, concerned state senators in Idaho. Please keep us posted.

Yes, of course, here in Texas, they could demand at least 5 interpreters and one LaRaza rep to show them how to give false info!!!

What I really meant is it in place and the ACLU hasn't come after the state, yet?

Hey, Idaho may be the place we all have to flock to -

One of my stepbrothers was stationed at Mountain Home when I was just a kid. He brought home the biggest apple I have ever seen in my life. It was a big as a cantaloupe. When I think of Idaho, I don't think of potatoes - I think of apples.

nntrixie, I haven't heard that the ACLU has reared it's ugly head here, and they don't want to. Although, maybe I should do some snooping to see if they have been poking around.

Speaking of moving to Idaho, you can't believe how may people have moved here. The illegals have shoved people all the way up here. And speaking of potatoes. I think they're all exported 'cause I usually have to buy Washington spuds. I have to go to Texas to get my own Idaho potatoes.

I'm catching up on alipac -our internet has been out for a long time.

I very much remember your earlier post. I hope Dave Motley was helpful!

Keep educating the politicans! I emailed our city for almost a year with articles and information and they have now applied for 287g. We are now working on our county sheriff. Someone recently went to a county meeting -it seems many people are mis-informed. So this is something we must overcome. Here is a link to their misconceptions. See the summary -fourth post from bottom.

Be persistent. I hope all of us are working on our cities and counties.
