Former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean came to the defense of violent rioters who started fires at UC Berkeley and attacked Trump supporters, saying the rioters are “our children” and “will soon run America.”

Dean, who served as DNC chairman from 2005 to 2009, was responding to a Donald Trump tweet in which the president criticized the violent rioters who started fires at UC Berkeley and attacked Trump supporters to keep gay conservative and pro-Trump journalist Milo Yiannapoulos from speaking on campus.

“Professional anarchists, thugs and paid protesters are proving the point of the millions of people who voted to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” Trump said.

Dean took umbrage at Trump’s characterization, firing back on Twitter.

“These are the generation that will soon run America. They are not thugs and they oppose hate. They are our children,” Dean said. “Get used to it.”

Dean ran for president in 2004 and came in third in the Iowa caucuses, before torpedoing his campaign with the now-infamous “Dean Scream.”

Is he saying this is the future Democrat Party? I do not see Conservatives or young Republicans out there having violent protests.

Actually many of these violent protesters who come in and join the peaceful protesters are hurting their cause. They keep it up and it will backfire big time on the Democrat party.

I agree with you Jean. Sometimes I wonder if this is a tactic being used to intimidate people with opposing views from protesting. I would like to get out there and protest, but I sure don't want to get in a fight with one of these junior terrorist. They really are shutting free speech.

Absolutely, same with my children. I've got seven children. Five of them voted for Trump and two for Clinton. Even my two that voted for Clinton would never act like this. All of my children respect the rights of people to have differing opinions. I strongly believe a lot of what we're seeing with these kids today represents a failure of parenting. Sure there are exceptions, but that is what I believe overall.

MW I agree with you. I have been thinking of forming the Granny Brigade. We can invade their protests carrying walkers and canes (props for protection). They so much as touch us and we can start screaming elder abuse. They must be driving me crazy
