Nothing can be done on a state and local level
Here's the great excuse, THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO SINCE THE ISSUE OF ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION IS BEING HANDLED ON A FEDERAL LEVEL. This is what I have been told by the Governor, my state representative and the local sheriff's department. Another reason is, we have no room for them in the jail, the jail is full of child molesters and meth addicts and those selling meth. Which would I rather have locked up meth dealers and child molesters or illegals, when I ask why the law is not being enforced this was the question for me.

don't forget about Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, Arizona that deputized the posse and holds the illegals in his tent-city jail

Don't forget about Sheriff Sam Samniego in El Paso County and Sheriff Arlen West in Hudspeth County, Texas. They went right to Washington with photographs and documents to discuss the situation on the border where they and their men, as well as the Border Patrol risk their lives every day.

I think the most significant things that do get done are on the State and Local level of government. Evidently most federal mandates and laws do not get enforced. One example, Homeland Security was put into effect to better pull all inteligence together to do the most good,(most law agencies are very stubborn about sharing info with each other) so the one hand would know what the other hand is doing. Anyway I heard on Lou Dobbs show that all state, federal, local, and I think the FBI were sharing info, guess which one was not sharing info? Your right, Homeland security, what a huge expensive waste of taxpayers money that was!

nittygritty
I saw that on Lou Dobbs, makes you wonder what the big deal was in creating a Department for Homeland Security -- it was just a good idea that sounded good for the administration.
