Whew. What a relief. I've been wanting to do this for a while, but held on to this card for sentimental reasons. It WAS my first credit card and basically what started me on the road to the mid 800's credit score I have today. I had this card for 17 years.

Back in July, B of A made some changes to thier website and then a few weeks later, I got a new card in the mail even tho the old one had not expired yet. I thought "well, I didn't ask for this, but whatever." Life went on...

Then, the following month, I get online and check my acct. I realized they charged me a late fee when I had been having the minimum payment taken out of my checking acct for years. I called them on this and had the fee reversed and thought that was the end of it.

Next month, same thing. After 40 minutes on the phone, the fee was again reversed then I had someone tell me that all my settings had been voided out to what I had them at and thats why the min payment wasn't coming out of checking. I had that person walk me thru and get it reset. Ok, done. Life went on...

This month, on Thanksgiving, I check my acct again and there was another late fee! I about hit the roof.

I called them the next day to ask why the hell this keeps happening. After being forced, once again to press 1 for English, getting transferred around to FIVE different departments and 50 minutes on the phone, I finally blew up and let them have it.

The first gripe I brought up was about how terrible I think it is they are giving credit cards out to illegals. The response I got was that B of A was giving illegals credit cards, but they had to give B of A cash first up front for the amount of the credit they are to get. I asked her why they are doing this for a bunch of law breakers and she didn't have an answer. I told her I knew the answer and it has to do with the almighty $$$. I also told her how very UNAmerican it is to do what they did.

Seventeen years of being a loyal (and extremely patient) customer and I've had enough. They will not get another dime of mine!!!!! After hanging up I immediately called Discover card had one activated that I had sitting around and told them I am a former B of A customer. The Rep asked me why I left and I got to tell her the whole story.

I felt a huge weight off my back after doing this. If anyone out there is on the fence about cancelling your credit card with B of A....don't wait. It was easy to do and I was able to do it over the phone.
