    In response to a recent Roll Call article calling out the nativist lobby, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Lamar Smith wrote a letter to the editor making a series of claims—many of which he’s been making for the last 20 years—which simply don’t stack up to the facts. These myths also conveniently obsure the lack of any denial of ties to the nativist lobby. While many of Smith’s easy-to-swallow myths may stir the extreme end of a conservative base, they serve as a yet another distraction from having an open and honest immigration debate.

    Repeating the same myths over and over again doesn’t make them true. Here are a few recently cited immigration myths and the facts that refute them:

    MYTH: The American people want enforcement-only “solutions.â€

    "Mass deportation would actually reduce U.S. GDP by 1.46% annually, amounting to a $2.6 trillion cumulative loss in GDP over 10 years, and cost an estimated $206 billion to $230 billion over 5 years."

    Sounds Win-Win to me. Lets move them out.
    Disqusting that just LA county spent;

    WELFARE COSTS FOR CHILDREN OF ILLEGAL ALIENS EXCEEDS $50 MILLION
    April 19, 2010—Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich released figures from the Department of Public Social Services showing that illegal aliens’ children born in the United States collected over $50 million in welfare benefits ( $21.9 million CALWORKS + $29.4 million Food Stamps) for the month of February.

    Approximately 23% of all CALWORKS and food stamp issuances in Los Angeles County are made to parents who reside in the United States illegally and collect benefits for their native-born children.

    “When you add this to $350 million for public safety and nearly $500 million for healthcare, the total cost for illegal immigrants to County taxpayers far exceeds $1 billion a year – not including the millions of dollars for education,â€

    “Every person born within the limits of the United States, and subject to their jurisdiction, is by virtue of natural law and national law a citizen of the United States. This will not, of course, include persons born in the United States who are foreigners, aliens, who belong to the families of ambassadors or foreign ministers accredited to the Government of the United States, but will include every other class of persons. It settles the great question of citizenship and removes all doubt as to what persons are or are not citizens of the United States. This has long been a great desideratum in the jurisprudence and legislation of this country.â€

    Now we all know about the Jurisdiction arguement. But what about the part of "national law". By National law would suggest they are within the National laws boundaries... which they aren't.

    We say "Foreigners" and "Aliens"... why say it twice along with seperate of coma's if it doesn't have a meaning? Now a foreigner meaning would also apply to saying a foreign diplomat... but would the term "alien". By definition an alien is a resident born OR belonging to another country who hasn't aquired citizenship or naturalization. [e.a.]
    Every person who wishes to become a citizen of the United States must take the Oath of Allegiance. That oath begins, "I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen;" Illegals, like all other persons, are subject to our laws. We can lock them up, for example. But incarcerating them subjects them to our laws, not to our jursidiction. And, since illegals were never subject to our jurisdiction, they cannot convey citizenship to their offspring.

    Yup, just saying how many holes in the entire 14th amendment they have in their arguement besides just the jurisdiction arguement which already is very clear and easily provable to anyone with a brain as to not imply citizenship to illegal alien babies.

    I just hope the Judiciary commitee when gets to the part in their agenda looking at political judges they find a way and get rid of Kagan and Sotomayor. If not when we get WH control time to arrest both for treason to the US Constitution and remove them from office.

    I left a comment on that page above last night, and it's not there anymore. Surprise, surprise! Although, two more comments have been added, but they were in favor of illegal immigration bullcrap, trash talking Mr. Smith and griping that HE was unamerican. Argh!!!!

    I'm tired of illegal alien supporters trying to hide the truth, and drowning out the voices they don't want to hear.
