It's definitely needed, especially since President Bush called it a "blankity blank piece of paper" (His quote is ON the record by aides who confirmed he literally said it with the expletive during a cabinet meeting when there were complaints over some entries in the Patriot Act II)
That quote supposedly from Bush about the Constitution, cannot be corroborated or verified by any independant source.

The quote was reported by Doug Thompson of Capitol Hill Blue.

    Here's his "proof:"

I've talked to three people present for the meeting that day and they all confirm that the President of the United States called the Constitution "a blankety blank piece of paper."

    Three nameless people, eh?

I wouldn't be surprised if Bush actually said this, but it's simply irresponsible of Thompson to publish this without actually naming the names of people who can verify it.

If Bush is going to be vilified and strung up, do it for truthful hard and irrefutable "facts", not uncorroborated, unsubstantiated, unverifiable innuendo.

There are enough verifiable facts, and hard evidence against Bush on several other issues without taking every thing that is put on the internet at face value, or as gospel. Sting him up sure, but only if the evidence is there. If accusations cannot be verified, and substantiated then any other accusations that are made will lose their authenticity, and credibility.

And believe me if Moveon.org and the crazy liberal/progressives thought the quote was true, they would be all over it, in a heart beat. But even Moveon.org won't touch it. So that tells me it's ether not true, or the source is not good. At least not yet.

native, I agree with you that we should not condemn someone for merely the unsubstantiated accussation. but tonight his false promises about border security and outright statements about guest workers and amnesty will convict him. I voted for George W. Bush, he was not the conservative I wanted, but he seemed better than anyone else running.
Now I am so betrayed by the man I could spit in his face. Actually, betrayed doesn't even explain how ANGRY I am.

When are we going to get rid of that loophole in our Constitution that allows for anchor babies? If you're here illegally, and you have a child here, then you're child was born here illegally, and therefore is NOT a U.S. citizen.

But not convicted of the Thomson quote, without real evidence.

I'm as angry as you are. And I voted both times for Bush, but he wasn't my first choice for the Republican candidate in the first place. But as you said, what choice did we have? I'm "extremely" disappointed with him.

I can support him on the terror war, even though I'm still torn about it. But the Illegal immigration issue is the last straw. And what I heard tonight from him was the same old story. Conprehensive plan, guest worker, nation of immigrants. BLAH! BLAH! BLAH! I wanted to scream at the TV, "what is it about illegal that you don't understand"? When you speak of a nation of immigrants, it's "LEGAL" immigration" you pandering dolt.

But then looking at the Democrats, the immigration issue would be even worse. At least on the Conservative side there are several Congressmen and a few Senators that are holding the line. No Democrat is stepping foward to fight for strong enforcment. For pete sake the Democrats want illegals to be able to vote. Unbeleivable! That shoud tell you everything you need to know, about the Dems concerning this issue.

So these few Republican's battling for us on this issue, should be supported.

Native, yes I agree with you. I'm not sure about the war either, but we're there and we'll never know what the truth is.

Dems are worse, absolutely. Bush was never what I would have called a conservative. Tancredo, Hayworth, a couple others, but they're the only ones on this issue. Honest to goodness, the vast majority of politicians at all levels are self-centered, selfish liars. Bush just happens to be the one who ACTUALLY and COMPLETELY sold our nation down the toilet.

I find it interesting that the last time amnesty was given, it was a Republican. And I'm sure it was in the hopes that all these pardoned illegals would vote Republican. And see what happened? Those pardoned millions for the most part voted Democrat. The socialism of entitlements is hard to resist.

And now the Republicans are doing it all over again. How stupid can they be? Well, we see how stupid they are.

Yes, I agree the system is broken, and needs reform. All entitlements of Congress should be revoked. Lets start over, learn from our mistakes, and make the needed changes.

I work in retail and these people will steal ANYTHING! Even if it costs $1.00, if they want it bad enough, they will steal it. They steal dummy phones (display phones), and remote controls that go with Bose wave Radios on display. (Not sure WHY or HOW they would use it?)

I've seen small children trying to steal jewelry. They know how to take it out of the outer packaging and slip it in their little pockets. Well, someone has taught them how to do that. Gee, I wonder?

I agree--- Send the women first and children first!!! I don't care how long they've been in the U.S. illegally, or what assets they have.

Kickemout, you live close to my border, Oregon, and they let them have things no citizen of this state can get. I know of one family in particular, these two both have jobs, and two kids. They struggle to have any food in the house, insurance and medical insurance (both have serious medical issues that require constant care). They regularly go hungry. This is wrong, especially while there are so many illegal alien women up here with several anchor babies that get food assistance, and never claim their "mans" income (hard to verify under the table wages!!). So they appear to be going hungry. They are given at least enough food assitance for the kids that were born here, but I have heard from people that the state actually alots enough so the whole family is included.

Not sure how correct that is, it seems plausible, but wonder how stupid those workers would have to be to do such a thing, against the laws.

I know thye have recently built a subsidized apartment building out in the town I grew up in (Sandy, OR, near Mt. Hood) just for illegal aliens!!! They say it is for "farmworkers", and because it was a project of the Catholic Church, they are allowing illegals to get low rent.

Getting subsidized rent for citizens in need is completely out anymore up here. You just have to pay the full rent, and suck it up, but no, not if you are an illegal alien.

I know I am sounding whiney, sorry, it irks me because we pay too much for so little, while they get cheap rent, on our tax dollars.

Oh, man I better stop, it's late and I've had my daily (ah, and Mothers day was a scream, the ones next door pulled off the outside water spicket, why we do not know, and it flooded our place and their, as well as having to have our water shut off for hours!!) run-ins with some of my illegal neighbors, so my sarcasm level is a bit high right now!!

AmericanElizabeth we have been dealing with illegals in this state for so many decades now that I have forgotten most of the stories I have experienced personally. The one that sticks in my old brain the most, however, is the treatment my mother received at the hospital shortly before she died. After that day I vowed to do everything I could legally do in order to see to it that the Catholic church loses its tax-exempt status (they owned the hospital that was cruel to my dying mother) and I also vowed to see to it that illegals are deported. I cannot begin to tell you how much I detest them. Since I have no power or clout of any kind, I do little things to make their lives miserable. Or at least I do things to attempt to make their lives unpleasant.

You do not sound whiney to me, just frustrated as we all are. I am so happy to have found this website because the wife and I have had some real good laughs and we have learned so much from the people associated with this site. When we are angry or upset or frustrated or tired, we come here and feel we are among friends. Funny, because we will probably never know each others names and we will probably fade away like smoke in a wind. But it is the messages we share with others of a like mind that keep us striving for justice. And justice is something left to people, while vengence is left to God.

We pray for you and yours AmericanElizabeth.
