The vast majority of illegal aliens are here to work. ----Maybe?----

The only reason that there are jobs for them is because U.S. employers can hire them with impunity and they can pay them dirt compared to what a "living wage" is for an American worker.

Also, with all of the talk about a guest worker program, this needs to be discussed. There is a legal way that does not incude amnesty of any sort. This is important because we are considering more that just the things that we have already discussed. Illegal aliens are responsible for a very large portion of our total crime problem. This must be considered as we determine how we will apply immigration policies in the future.

Over 30% of the crime in the U.S. is committed by illegal aliens. Our elected officials may not want to discuss, much less respond to, the illegal alien crisis, but its magnitude for law enforcement is startling. For instance:

to the U.S. government, the citizens of this country are merely 'collateral damage' -- if we get killed during the process of them achieving their goals, so be it, because "frankly my dear, they don't give a damn"

Big business wants cheap labor, at any cost, and "government" wants whatever big business pays them to want. The needs of the people have gotten lost in the shuffle.

yep . . . this is about the federal government and corporate America waging war against the citizens, states and American workers -- THEY are more to blame than the illegals are.

These illegals are just a smoke screen in my opinion and now the federal government and corporate America have got them doing their 'dirty work' in the cities and streets across this country.

Fact is many of these farmers don't want citizenship for their illegals! The New York Times interviewed a couple of farmers:

Mike Gonya, a farmer in Ohio, said amnesty would only make immigrants less productive. "The illegals are probably better workers than the legal ones," said Gonya, who farms 2,800 acres of wheat and vegetables near Fremont, Ohio. "The legal ones know the system. They know legal recourse. The illegal ones will bust their butts."

"Yay!" said Jay Taylor, president of Taylor & Fulton, a tomato grower in Florida, Maryland and Virginia. Mr. Taylor said guest workers should be able to come and go as they pleased, with freedom to earn wages in this country but no promise of citizenship or benefits.

Also the article said many employers oppose any provision that would penalize them for hiring illegal workers, knowingly or not.
