The Holland Sentinel Dec 12,2010 Ottawa County, MI — College dreams for youths brought into the U.S. illegally as youngsters might be a bit closer by Christmastime, say local supporters of The Dream Act.
The proposal, which would allow young illegal immigrants to earn citizenship through an education or serving in the armed forces, was tabled by the U.S. Senate on Wednesday. But local supporters say it still is on the table — and could be approved before the end of the year — before incoming Republicans narrow the proposal’s chance of being made into law.
