Consider supporting a filibuster of Senator Specter's bill

The immigration bill passed by the Senate Judiciary Committee, with only 6 "Nays", is now an amendment to Senator Frist's bill. My conclusion after reading some of the "Temporary" Worker provisions in Specter's amendment is to SUPPORT A FILIBUSTER!

Many of you find a filibuster very distasteful, but in this case NO BILL IS BETTER THAN SPECTER'S AMENDMENT. Some facts on "Temporary" Workers from Specter's amendment:

    1. The amendment allows the entry into the US of a SPOUSE AND MINOR CHILDREN of a "Temporary" Worker. Specter would allow illegal aliens who are "the spouse or a minor child of an eligible alien" and are "accompanying or following to join such alien." Perhaps we should name the resulting babies "Specter" babies, instead of "anchor babies".

    2. I could find NO LIMIT on the NUMBER of Temporary Workers allowed under this amendment - THIS BILL IS A GIVE-AWAY TO ILLEGALS. It's like throwing open the borders!

    3. Those US Workers ESPECIALLY SCREWED under this bill are:
    a. US Registered Nurses - Specter better not get sick again!
    b. US fashion models - there is a giant loophole here!
    c. US Agricultural workers -
    d. US workers who "press apples to make cider".
    e. No doubt more exceptions for the "especially screwed US workers" will be added.

Supporting Specter's amendment are the 4 Republican Senators who voted for it in committee:
    Arlen Specter, R- Penn.
    Sam Brownback, R- Kansas
    Mike Dewine, R- Ohio
    Lindsay Graham, R- SC

Also Chuck Hagel, R-Nebraska, is a co-sponsor and of course "ex-presidential candidate" John McCain, R-Arizona, is supporting it. Most Democrat Senators are expected to support the amendment, meaning a filibuster is probably going to be necessary to stop it.

I'm already urging my Senators to do just that.

Talk until you're blue in the face, and then talk some more!
