MLB Needs our Help
I got this letter from NCLR's Ellie Klerlein, National Council of La Raza [policy@nclr.org]
Looks like they are planning on bullying the MLB into moving their ALl-Star game out of Arizona. Anyway, they have a form letter you can fax and I did just that but changed the text to suit my own feelings.
These last few days, Major League Baseball's (MLB) All-Star Weekend in Anaheim showcased baseball's top talent, uniting fans throughout the country to celebrate what makes the sport great: its diversity.
On Monday it was "Dominican Republic Night" at the Home Run Derby, with winner David Ortiz of the Boston Red Sox edging out Hanley Ramirez of the Florida Marlins. And during Tuesday's main event, a native Georgian, David McCann of the Atlanta Braves, had the night's biggest hit, driving in three runs and ending the National League's 13-year winning drought.
Yet all of these accomplishments will be in question when next year's All-Star Game is played. With the 2011 MLB All-Star Game scheduled to take place in Arizona, many of baseball's star players would be subject to discrimination and racial profiling under the state's new law, SB 1070.
Why should the game be played in an environment that's hostile toward baseball's best players, their families, and their fans? Tell MLB Commissioner Bud Selig to move the 2011 All-Star Game out of Arizona!
Call Commissioner Selig's office and urge him to change the place--not the face--of the 2011 All-Star Game.

Don't let the voices of intolerance change baseball's identity! Join us in making sure that our national pastime is free of discrimination.
Urge MLB Commissioner Bud Selig to move the 2011 All-Star Game from Arizona!
