    Sitting Out The Election??

Over the last few days I've read a lot of comments from people talking about sitting out the election if one candidate or another wins their party nomination.

Believe me, I do understand, and share in, the frustration, anxiety, and even discouragement at times. This mess cannot help but get to all of us after awhile.

But I have a question about sitting out the election if one doesn't like the outcome for nominations.

Would it not be better to write in a vote for someone else than to not vote at all?

My feeling is that I'd rather not give corruption the satisfaction of driving me away from the polls and if I decided not to vote I would always be wondering if my write in might have made a difference in the outcome.

Any thoughts on the subject from anyone else?

    Yes.

Yes. I would definately write in Ron Paul if that was an option. Sometimes the states won't allow it. I think the candidate has to apply to every state to have that option included.

Today is the day I would vote. If it comes to Hillary and McCain on the ticket, I am writing in any independent who possibly will run. If we have McCain and Hillary on the ticket, the only difference will be the way the war is handled. Other than that these two have many things in common.

Always vote is my opinion...never give up that right. I believe it is even more important than ever given the corruption.

Yesterday I heard a radio host give his opinion about people who don't vote because they feel they are just voting for the lesser of two evils, so why bother? His opinion is that it is our moral obligation to vote for the lesser of two evils so that less, rather than more evil will be done. Interesting......just thought I would throw that one out there for you.

I've been grappling with this for the last few weeks. I was torn between who I really want to vote for (Ron Paul) and who I can vote for to really make it count (in other words Mitt to keep Juan out of office). I'm not nuts about the idea of having a Mormon president, but he beats the alternative in my opinion.

Stopping illegal immigration means so much to me that for the first time I found myself voting for the person who might keep Hill or Hussien or Juan out of office.

    Great answers everyone and thanks!

I think it's important to have discussions like this......especially now when there seems to be so much disillusionment, disappointment, and even despair surrounding the elections this time around.

This is such a critical time that I'm just not convinced that the answer is to abandon our right to vote altogether. To me that would be equal to admitting defeat and just giving up the fight. We can't afford to do that, IMO.

I think I shall stay home and work on my knitting. Or maybe do a write in.

I cannot have on my conscience that I was part of what will happen to this country if either of these candidates is elected. I want nothing to do with it.
