does it bother y'all that our president wants the Senate to pass this legislation by Memorial Day?

if the Senate passes this legislation on a day that is set aside to remember those who lost their lives defending our country and our liberty ... that will be like spitting on their graves

If the children have special medical needs that Americans are going to have to finance - why not do it in Mexico. It will be a lot cheaper to do it there.
At least we won't have the entire family to support - just medicene for the child.

Mexico is not that backward in medicene. Perhaps they don't have all the advances we do - but remember a lot of our doctors used to be educated n Mexico - some still may be.

    My point about abandonment -

Would any of you, if you found yourself in a foreign country and about to be sent home, even consider leaving your child behind? Even if it had been born there?

I agree the children SHOULD be deported also - but when you say that - suddenly citizenship means soooo much to these people.

They chose to come here - they chose to have children here - if they feel the children should stay here - then they choose to abandon their children. Otherwise, there will be no split.

The 14th amendment also states that if the child's parents are bound by the full jurisdiction of the federal government then they are a legal citizen. If you cannot vote, drive a car, pay taxes, then you are not bound by the federal governments full jurisdiction. THAT CHILD IS NOT A LEGAL CITIZEN!! That's why they run over here and pop babies out left and right. They think if thier children are legal, then they automatically stay. Send em all home with the kids on thier backs!!! Less education, free meals and medical that the legal citizen will be forced to pay. It's just another law our limp assed government refuses to uphold!!

for some reason people don't get the fact that it says "subject to the jurisdiction" and not "within the jurisdiction" of the United States.

Native Americans were "within the jurisdiction" of the United States but not "subject to the jurisdiction" and they did not receive citizenship until 1924

What is tragic is people have become so accustomed to having some one else take care of problems for them no one has to think about the poor decisions they have made in life which brought on the problems.

I was watching a sad interview sob story with an American woman that married and ILLEGAL and has two kids now. "It is going to be heartless and tragic for them to split us up" she says wiping away tears.

I am thinking, lady what possessed you to desire a sane and stable life so I'll marry a person that does not even belong in this country. Most of these things people figured out how to cause on their own and can figure out how to get out of it on their own. There is divorce, you can go with your husband to your new homeland or go on the lamb until your caught.

Our problem in this country is Big Daddy tries to fix every hang nail a person has and what we have created is people that do not know how to function or think or take care of themselves.

I have made plenty of stupid decisions in my life. It is not up to everyone to care of them for me. I'll never learn a dammed thing if I don't have to start being responsible for my decisions and actions.

Personally I have a lot of compassion for these people. They as well as us are all victims of governments failing to do their jobs. I would not want to have been born where they were born nor have to walk in their shoes.

Our government is guilty as sin on this one. Now they are going to over react just like the credit cards they offered after Katrina. Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador...the list goes on are all guilty as sin on this one. The compassion is a good thing. But compassion does not mean we should allow America to become a depressed third world country like the rest of them so we all have nothing. That is socialism/communism ideology of sharing the pain. Hey great now nobody has anything. Big Daddy has created mind numb robots who can't function in daily life. I am ranting now and going to stop. I have some capitalism to attend to.

I have your back, but I think we are outnumbered.

    TROUBLE:

You are exactly right, it's the governments fault. Not just ours, but Mexico's also. If they had a good plan for thier people, like we do, they too could come out of the poverty stricken, no jobs no medical etc...They have many resort destinations that the entire country could capitalize on. Impose a bed tax, use it for medical and education for children. The problem is, that these people have been down for many generations, and I don't think there are enough of them educated enough to make a difference, and I don't think they care. Lets run to America, and let our government have this place! They should be gathering in masses in Mexico to make that government provide for them!! They just don't seem to get it.

On another note: When you become a legal citizen, you have to take the oath of citizenship which includes giving up any allegience to your homeland. Do you actually think these people will do that with any honesty? And why are they so dedicated to Mexico when it has wronged them so?

Immigrant debate could split illegal parents from U.S.-born kids
Can anyone explain why the immigrant debate could split illegal parents from U.S. born kids? We keep hearing this statement, yet never hear any explanation as to why this would happen.

I also want to know why U.S. families can live thousands of miles and or countries apart, yet we are told that the illegal immigrant population in the U.S. can't.
What about our troops that are stationed around the world? Aren't many of them split from their families?

I have yet to hear a single valid or balanced argument in support of illegal immigration into any country world wide.
