FRAMINGHAM —MA

Brazilians living in New England will be coming to Framingham High School Sunday to vote in their country’s presidential election.

According to the Brazilian Workers Party, which organizes voting throughout the country, the polling place at the high school should be collecting nearly 12,000 votes from people registered to vote in Brazil living in Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.

In total there are about 60,000 registered Brazilian voters living in the U.S., said a press release.

The Workers Party is headquartered in Boston and affiliated with the party of Brazilian President Lula da Silva. In addition to advocating for Brazilian immigrants’ rights, the party has also worked to establish communication between Brazilians living in the U.S. and the government of Brazil since da Silva assumed office in 2003.
