ALIPAC wins in Oregon, loses in Idaho, fights in Indiana

    Tuesday, March 11, 2008

This press release came today from ALIPAC. If you agree with ALIPAC, you'll want to support its efforts. If you disagree, you'll want to be aware of its language and strategies.

    The press release:

    Friends of ALIPAC,

The battle of the states is raging. We are facing massive resistance to our bills from the state Chambers of Commerce, some churches, and many of the minority state legislators who have aligned with the illegals.

We regret to inform you that despite a valiant effort by ALIPACers on the ground, we have lost in Nebraska and Idaho.

We have won in Oregon, Utah, and Mississippi. This makes our current stats 3-2.

We really need a win in Indiana. Our national activists have already invested three days of calls in this state.

While our immigration enforcement bills, SB 345 and HB 1219, passed by large majorities in the Indiana Senate and House, the bills must be reconciled in a Conferee Committee. The Democrat speaker of the House, Representative Bauer, has not appointed members to this committee. The Senate has taken action.

The session ends this FRIDAY MARCH 14th, which means that Speaker Bauer can kill this legislation by continuing to fail to appoint conferees.

WE NEED A WIN IN INDIANA, IF POSSIBLE, TO ESTABLISH NATIONAL MOMENTUM!

    Please take immediate action.

Read these articles at this link before proceeding.

Time running out for debate on Indiana immigration bill
    http://www.alipac.us/article3027.html

    1. Pick up your phone and politely, yet firmly, call Speaker Bauer's office and ask, "Has speaker Bauer assigned conferee committee members to the immigration enforcement bills yet? Please tell Speaker Bauer that I know these bills passed both chambers by large margins and that polls show over 80% of the citizens of Indiana support these bills! If the legislature adjourns on Friday, without finishing the job on these immigration enforcement bills there is going to be a huge negative political backlash."

Call this switchboard to ask for his office:
    Democrat House Members: 1-800-382-9842

    2. Follow up your call with an e-mail personalized to Speaker Bauer, which contains your own version of the message. Please make sure you call first. If you rely on just an email, you will not be as effective.

    E-mail speaker Bauer at h6@in.gov

    3. Then call and e-mail the following influential Indiana lawmakers to convey your version of the message "Honorable Representative _____: Please DO NOT leave session without passing SB 345 and HB 1219 out of conferee committee. Please instruct Speaker Bauer not to derail the process and deprive Indianans of a voice, by failing to appoint conferees on these bills. The nation is watching these bills closely. We know that a majority of your constituents support these bills. Don't leave town on Friday, without getting the job done!"

    Contact these legislators:

    Republican House Members: 1-800-382-9841
    Democrat House Members: 1-800-382-9842

    Minority Leader Bosma-R; h88@in.gov
    Senator Long-R; s16@in.gov
    Representative Murphy-R; h90@in.gov
    Rep. Crawford-D; h98@in.gov
    Rep. Tyler-D; h34@in.gov
    Rep. Rep. Koch-R; h65@in.gov
    Sen. Kruse-R; s14@in.gov
    Sen. Arnold-D; s8@in.gov
    Sen. Weatherwax-R s18@in.gov

If you would like to comment on this effort, share information you receive back from lawmakers, ask questions, or view what others are doing, please post at this link...

Just what the hell does that last part mean. Maybe the statesman blog needs to detail "languages and strategies". I take this as a backhanded slap hit & run drive-by.

I'm sorry, I have been gone for a while. What does that mean that we lost in Idaho? Zeezil, do you know?

The legislature has turned back a relatively good employer enforcement bill. There is still a bit of a chance it could be resurrected, yet, though. Stay posted.

The lines must be flooded because I've tried several times and each time was on hold for a long time.

    Maybe this is good news.
