WEIGH THIS ONE ON THE SCALES OF JUSTICE

I'm considering making a commercial out of this one. I have been trying to find a good camera person to help me out.

Imagine a set of scales (like our scales of justice) sitting on a table. Me standing behind. The pitch is "My fellow Americans, weigh this one out for yourself" I set a block on one side of the scales in large letters saying "deportation costs".Of course the scale tips. Then I go to the other side and start stacking the blocks up one by one. saying, "housing costs", then another saying "healthcare costs" then another saying "food stamp costs", and another saying, "education costs" "welfare costs" and so forth, by this time the scales have bottomed out in this direction. Then, I reach down and flip all of the blocks over at once and it reads in big bold letters AMNESTY Then I look straight into the camera and ask "Which would you prefer?"

Give me some input, I would like to get this going all over the web and any place else that would play it!

    I think it's a good idea.

It's an extremely good idea. It should be put on national TV. But I don't know how we could ever get that to happen. On the internet ? That might be possible. Don't give up.

Look how the Minuteman Project happened. One man, with one idea. And then there were two.

And now there's ...............how many ?? It's in the thousands.

It would be awesome to somehow get it televised. But more realistically I was thinking of putting a link to it on one of my postings, and just letting evryone pass it around. If I can make it good enough....it would go many places on the web.

I don't know why not, Dannah1965. It sounds doable to me, and you sound like you're ready to do it!! Just like your state, Georgia did it !!

    Hooray, Georgia !!

It's a great idea! I'd be more than happy to pass the link around, too.

It's a great idea, you should pitch it to pro-America politicians running for office. Make a demo version which they can then re-shoot a polished version for campaign ads.

This is from globalaffairs forum site. The Huddle study is very large. You can find by just web search. Below is just to 1996 but it explains you can extend to todays numbers. Of course those that do not want to believe the study say it is flawed. Anyway, good numbers to think about.

    The Huddle Study

Because the number of illegal aliens can only be estimated, similarly the fiscal cost (government budget outlays) for those aliens can only be estimated. Dr. Donald Huddle, a Rice University economics professor, published a systematic analysis of those costs as of 1996 (see table below). The study also estimated the tax payments of those same aliens.

At that time, the illegal alien population was estimated to be about five million persons. The estimated fiscal cost of those illegal aliens to the federal, state and local governments was about $33 billion. This impact was partially offset by an estimated $12.6 billion in taxes paid to the federal, state and local governments, resulting in a net cost to the American taxpayer of about $20 billion every year. This estimate did not include indirect costs that result from unemployment payments to Americans who lost their jobs to illegal aliens willing to work for lower wages. Nor did it include lost tax collections from those American workers who became unemployed. The study estimated those indirect costs from illegal immigration at an additional $4.3 billion annually.

During the years since that estimate, the illegal alien population is estimated to have roughly doubled, so the estimated fiscal costs also will have at least doubled. Furthermore, the passage of time is accompanied by inflation in the costs of services, e.g., school budgets continue to climb. Therefore, what was estimated to be a cost to the American taxpayer of $33 billion in 1996 today would be at least $70 billion. Similarly, tax collections would have increased — sales taxes at least — so that the net expense to the taxpayer from illegal immigration would currently be at least $45 billion. The indirect fiscal costs would have also increased, especially during a period of already high unemployment, to perhaps and additional $10 billion annually.

1996 Costs Table from the Huddle Study 1
    Programs (billions)
    Public Education K-12 $5.85
    Public Higher Education $0.71
    ESL and Bilingual Education $1.22
    Food Stamps $0.85
    AFDC $0.50
    Housing $0.61
    Social Security $3.61
    Earned Income Tax Credit $0.68
    Medicaid $3.12
    Medicare A and B $0.58
    Criminal Justice and Corrections $0.76
    Local Government $5.00
    Other Programs $9.25
    Total Costs $32.74
    Less Taxes Paid $12.59
Net Costs of Direct Services $20.16
    Displacement Costs $4.28
    All Net Costs $24.44

You shouldn't need anything too high tech. Nor have to spend more than fifty bucks.
Just rent a high definition digital video camera , use a frame by frame technique when you need to change scenes. Pose the props and shoot it yourself. Find someone with a good speaking voice for the audio. Post your finished masterpiece to various online video sites. There are dozens of them. It will get seen !

Also send the digital video to different talk radio shows, etc. One may pick it up for an ad to use on tv.
    Just my suggestions. Good luck.
