Initiating a lawsuit against chicago sanctuary policies.....
I'm trying to initiate a suit against the city of chicago similar to judicial watch's suit against special order 40 in LA.
At this point no one from that organization (judicial watch)has returned my calls or emails. No doubt they are exceedingly busy.
I'm not a lawyer, but there must be a way a rank and file citizen can get this thing done.
Chicago citizens have recourse to non binding ballot initiatives and referendums, which are, in my opinion, useless.
A lawsuit seems to be the only way to go.
Is there anyone who can help push me in the right direction?
Advice, reading materials, procedures...anything?
This is my site, http://bellicoseboyo.blogspot.com/.
I sign everything I write. I'm not hiding from anyone.
If anyone can help, please contact me.
Thanks

hello
I cannot offer any advice -not having the expertise. But I can offer all the encouragement there is. Illinois and Chicago don't seem to be following the trend of other states and cities. I live 45 minutes north of Chicago in Waukegan. We have a population that is over 50% hispanic. Our schools have 68% hispanics. Tonight someone estimated on our town website that there are over 15,000 illegals in our town. Basically, two Mexican towns transplanted themselves here. I wish you could include our town in your suit as well!
Best of luck. Keep us informed.

hey....
I was in Waukegan this past winter protesting with the MMP.
At that point the catholic church was outraged over the Waukegan police enforcing traffic and insured drivers laws.
There were a great many angry Americans at that demo.
I still go to the suburbanchicagonews/waukegan site to see what's happening in your town.
If ever I get this thing off the ground, I will be more than happy to do whatever I can to help you guys.
No bullshit my friend.
Stay strong. You're not alone.

Rubicon, Welcome aboard!
Unfortunatly I also lack the advice expertise you need. Like Fedup, I too wish you the best in your fight. I would love to see you win and make headline news.
UT has the same problem with its immigration problem. Our legislation is moving at a snails pace. Sure hope it speeds up!
Keep us posted on your progress. I'm very anxious to see the outcome."Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting the same results is the definition of insanity. " Albert Einstein.

Perhaps contact The MCDC Virginia Chapter (Minuteman Civil Defense Corps...the Chris Simcox Minuteman organization.) George Taplin is the head person. They're in Herndon, VA, and I think that Judicial Watch had something to do with them trying to stop the day labor sites.
Anyway, he might be someone who could give you additional feedback.
Worth a shot.

I want to know why we can not all get a class action lawsuit against GW Bush personally for his failure to enforce our immigrations laws and his failure to secure our borders in a time of war? He made a promise to protect our country and he has reneged on that promise. Is that not breech of contract? didn't he have to swear to uphold his countrys laws? Do we have any lawyers here on ALIPAC?

more questions...
Rubicon,
I am thrilled to hear that someone wants to do something in Illinois. I'm leaving some links about the MM demonstration in Waukegan. Crazy stuff. The hispanic community/illegals were angry because the police were enforcing the $500 seisure fine for uninsured drivers. Nothing has really happened since this demo around here. Although Elgin, IL is starting some heat (see the Illinois minutemen site to read more about that). So here we go....
Minutemen to march Sunday!!

illinoisminutemanproject@yahoo.com -email for head of Illinois Minutemen, Rosanna Pulido. I have her phone number if you want that too. No doubt she would have advise for you and/or would connect you with somebody who could help.

Rubicon:
It would take a lawyer with really large "feet" to sue Bush and the other idiots that deserve to be sued.
Unfortunately, the system in this country (with too many fools sitting on the judicial benches) is not realy friendly to sensible lawsuits.
In some ways, they'd rather pander to the "McDonald's hot coffee" lawsuits than real ones. To me that's kind of like the old Roman gladiator games - keep the populace busy watching irrelevant things while the real action is hidden from view.
I was glad to see that Valerie Plame decided to sue. That got a little notice, but has now fallen by the way as more "important" things hit the media - like Mel Gibson driving drunk, for pete's sake. Who cares?
The sad part is that too many Americans I talk to just want to be "entertained". So, they watch sports, or soaps, or sit-coms. The attitude seems to be - "I can't make a difference".
Well, of course not, if you're sitting on your duff being "entertained".!!!!!!!
Okay, enough ranting
I wish I new more about the legal side of things. But all I can do is wish you the best of luck
