Insist on immigration law enforcement

Dear editor,

When legislation fails to pass we always hear about Special Interest Groups killed its passage. In the case of the "Amnesty for Illegal Immigrants" or so called "Comprehensive Immigration Reform Bill" that is true. The Special Interest Group who blocked this bill from becoming law was the American citizens who contacted their Senators and let your views known. An estimated seventy percent of the 280 million, or 210 million American citizens opposed this bill.

President Bush and the Congressional Leaders will continue to force this bill though by claiming the immigration system is broken. The truth is the federal, state and local government's failure to enforce existing immigration laws is what's broken. The existing laws are very clear on the procedures and requirements to become a citizen. For the record, Senator Roberts voted (Nay) and Senator Brownback was a (Not Voting), he was in Pittsburg for a scheduled presidential fund raising.

I can only suggest all of you in The Morning Sunland contact your federal, state and local elected officials to request and/or insist all existing immigration laws be enforced.

Thanks,

Jerry Jobes
