It's Official: The Trump Administration Will Soon Solicit Bids for a New Border Wall

"Build the wall" begins.

The Department of Homeland Security announced Friday that it will soon begin soliciting bids "for the design and build of several prototype wall structures in the vicinity of the United States border with Mexico." Bidding begins March 6. The official posting says the administration will select the companies to potentially build the new structure sometime in April.

The solicitation appears to correspond to President Trump's highly publicized pledge to build a new border wall along the US-Mexico border. "We're going to build a wall, don't worry about it," Trump said at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Friday. "We're building the wall. We're building the wall. In fact, it's going to start soon. Way ahead of schedule, way ahead of schedule."

I'm glad to hear they'll be accepting bids. It wasn't that along ago I was hearing rumors about the contracts being given out through a "buddy" system.

That's illegal.

All government contracts are required under Fed law to go out as bids

Yes, I know. Did you miss the article that was posted on here last week that was rumoring that Trump may give the contracts to some folks in his "buddy" circle? I commented then that I hope not, because that wouldn't be legal (or something like that).

You have to be quite wary of rumors about Trump, because most of them have proven themselves to be untrue.

There is of course the avenue of a "sole source bid" which has been commonly used by past Administrations.

Not here in Chicago. Crooked Chicago politicians play by their own rules. That's why this once great city is going to hell.

Unfortunately Chicago government and politics has been corrupt since Al Capone and has only gotten worst over the years.

Sadly, Chicago corruption is so deeply imbedded and the likelihood of any much needed change is slim to none.
