Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) will seek reelection in 2014.

"I enjoy the work. I work hard at it. Every now and then I feel we make a difference," he told reporters on Wednesday.

He also defended his vote for legislation to avoid the fiscal cliff. Sessions was the only Alabama Republican to back the bill, though he has not been high on national conservative groups' target lists for a potential primary. He's unlikely to face a tough general election in the heavily Republican state.

"Most people have been sympathetic with me, even if they oppose the Democratic tax-and-spend agenda," he said.
