Now's the time people! REPORT REPORT REPORT!

Let's use this current "enforcement push" to our advantage. Real, or not, it's in the news. Cheating employers and illegals are getting nervous.

So let's step up the effort!

TRIPLE the amount of reports you make per week. QUADRUPLE it! MULTIPLY IT BY 100 !

And, more importantly, CC THE EMPLOYERS! ...let them know that they have been reproted to ICE, OSHA, etc. They will love it, I promise!

The momentum is on our side!

    GO GO GO!

Just because you're used to something doesn't make it right.

Temple Black, a public affairs officer with the Immigration & Customs Enforcement division of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in New Orleans, said his agency normally takes its arrest tips from local law enforcement and not from apartment managers and members of the public. He did not rule out investigating such claims, but neither did he commit to descending on Lakeview Apartments seeking illegal immigrants.

This is a quote from another thread about an apartment manager who told illegals they would have to move.

Notice, said his agency normally takes its arrest tips from local law enforcement and not from apartment managers and members of the public. He did not rule out investigating such claims,

So, how many of our 'reports' simply end up in 'File 13'???

I am surprised he would admit such things - he should be in a lot of trouble - just shows their arrogance, though.

Well, since the NYC ICE bureau doesn't "accept" phone tips, I've been writing them in. They told me they "had" to investigate every single one that's "written in".

BUT... I've also been CCing OSHA and the business itself, which I think is very effective. I've already seen one of the construction sites up the block from me completely change it's workforce a couple weeks after my mailing.

I should also start CCing the IRS... come to think of it.

Unfortunately, wehire illegals isn't very responsive. I wish they were

Sure, it's a lot of mailing, but I think it's worth it.

I'd love to report, but I always get that feeling that my report would get thrown in such a huge stack, it wouldn't go through.

I, too, would love to know the steps. I could spend 24/7 reporting illegals in my area. They're everywhere. Probably a handful of them not 100 ft from my house at the moment fixing someone's roof.

    Well, here's what I do:

If I notice a worksite, or a restaurant, or any other busienss that has an overabundance of non-english speaking people doing the "dirty" jobs, I make a mental note. I worked in both the construction and restaurant industries for years, and am all too aware of how these managers use illegals. What the "tells" are, etc. That said... you really don't need to be Sherlock Holmes here... unfortunately.

Then, I ask my buddies who still work in construction or the food service industry if they're familiar w/ said company. ...A lot of times they give me good infomation either way. Either "they're all good" or "they have a history of that sort of thing".

Then, sometimes, I'll call the business myself. And merely ask. With the construction companies I'll pretend I'm interested in having some work done, and that I need to make sure the workers are legal... AND that I'll check myself. You'd be surprised how many are willing to chat about it. A lot of times I merely explain that there is some "evidence" indicating that they might want to take a second gander at their books. Of course, some simply freak out and hang up.

At the end of every conversation I merely remind them that it is their repsonsibility to make sure the people they employ are legally *allowed* to work in the US. And that there are Government agencies designed to help them with that sort of thing.

But, if through the course of this, I think that ICE, OSHA, etc need a little "push" to check out said business... then I write the letter. I actually don't end up writing that many, but when I do I write each letter differently depending on the degree of certainty I have about the employees at the business. Sometimes I say "check these guys out... there's something fishy going on". And sometimes I say "these guys are blatantly breaking the immigration laws of our country. Investigate ASAP."

And as I said before, most times I'll CC the business as well. The CC is very important, and very powerful. Because all of a sudden everybody knows that EVERYBODY KNOWS. And that if they don't do something about it, there is a shared record of the entire thing.

Personally, if I were employing illegals... or, more importantly, WASN'T SURE...I'd freak out if I got one of these phone calls, or especially the letter. And I'd do the right thing and MAKE SURE. And if they're knowingly employing illegals... then too friggin' bad. They deserve everything they get.

What's important here is that if the employer and the employees are LEGAL... they have nothing to worry about. In fact, they shouldn't MIND a cursory check. This is a national hot-button issue. They shouldn't be surprised.

It's the un-American businesses, and uninvited illegals that are flouting our laws that need to worry.
